Exhaust Tip Project

I am going to attempt to replace my stock tips with 3" straight cut tips, powder coated to match my wheels.

Here's what I have so far.

Raw Tips

Powder Coat Color Sample (final product will be gloss)

De-burred and sanded with notches cut for the pegs on the stock pipes

Coating Completed

Tips getting welded on

The material I am trying for the tips is called alluminize. The powder later is doing a sample to make sure it takes the coating well.

Once I get the sample back I'll go to work on the pipes!

Yea, single wall straight cut. I am going to spray the stock pipe that is inside the stock chrome sleeve black so it is less noticeable but from the back it may make it look like its double walled. If that doesn't look good I may chop off the stock ones and have these tack welded on.

Nice video! Amazing work too this is pretty cool.

The color is an interesting choice though what made you go with that instead of a black or polished?

Thanks!

I had gloss black on my last car, wanted to to something different, so I color matched to my wheels.

The last couple pics look a bit gold, but it is just the lighting. This is what it matches.

Ive only driven the car once since they were installed, but if I keep them clean and waxed, they should last a long time. You guys powdercoated similar tips for my last car when you did my VMR wheels. They held up really well, but the gloss did gt a bit dull after 4 years.

Heres some pics of them getting welded up. I have not had the time to take any good pics of the set up yet. I plan to this weekend.
