Should I settle for a 328?
The more and more I look around at dealerships and hear offers, the more I think I won't get a 335i xdrive with the options I want around 500-525/month with a 36 month lease 10k miles lease with 1300 trade in value and 1500 down.
I am looking for one with the following options... M-Sport Tech Package Dynamic Handling Driver Assist Heated Seats Black Grilles I really wish I could get a custom made 335i xdrive with those options for around 500-525 a month including taxes but doesn't seem like it will happen But I feel like if I'm not getting a 335 there is no point in wasting money on BMW for a 328... I haven't test driven a 328 yet but I'd expect I'd really miss the sound and power and symmetrical exhaust Last edited by bmwftw123; 09-25-2014 at 07:23 PM.. |

Maybe I'll like the 328 when I test drive. I mean my dad has a F10 528 and it's pretty fun but when I test drove the 335 I loved it. Plus I've driven a cousins F10 550 and THAT THING WAS RIDICULOUS... So I want power. |

Why not look for a CPO? It shouldn't be that difficult to find those options new or used. To be honest although I enjoy my 435, I still miss the handling of my e92 and would buy another in a heartbeat.

Obviously my goal is a 335i xDrive with M-Sport, Dynamic, Tech, Driver Assist, Heated Front Seats.
What I think I'll do is ask my dealer to line up a 335, 328, and 428 for me and just compare the engine sounds, looks, as well as drive em all and see how it goes. Perhaps if I like the drive enough of the 328/428 I'll consider settling because I mean I don't even know how much I will like them but as of now, I think I'd regret losing an I-6 with that sound and power available whenever I want it. |

I can still get M-Sport on a 328 and with the same options the 335 comes out to be around 4800 more in MSRP... seems like it affects the monthly lease by like 75-100/month

You'd probably survive with a 328. You still have a couple of years left to move up the car chain.

Get what you would consider rewarding, which seems to be the I-6. They will be replacing this engine soon. Enjoy it as its a really great engin.

Of course the 335i is better and the M3 is better still. However, I wouldn't call the 328i settling. I drove an e39 with a 3.0 M54 engine before this (N52/55 crowd can suck it, M54 sounds better ). Yes, it sounded better and was smoother but the N20 is no slouch and I like the fuel savings. Put the extra money toward traveling+your home and get a m-performance exhaust.

No, don't buy a 328i if you want something else. Save up till you can afford what you want. Waiting sucks, but buyers remorse sucks more.
Having said that, the 328i is an amazing car. I came from a 335i and bought the 328i because its what I wanted, not because I "settled" for it (well I did consider "settling" for a 320 and then decided against it). Lose the xdrive. You get better handling + your budget goes down. Win-win. Also if budget is a concern, you might want to get just nav instead of tech package. |

I say go for the 328.
I have a modded 435 and honestly the power isnt all that and the sound of the i6 is sublime. My wife has a x3 and actually I love driving it! It sounds weird, but its really fun to me to push the n20 to its limits. Feels like a video game because you have to rev so high. |

The most powerful car I have driven is a F10 LCI 550 and that thing was fun as no other. Maybe that ruined the 335/435 for me? Too bad I can't afford something like that... yet |
