Found this on the H&R Website for their TRAK+ Wheel Spacers, gives you a general idea. I'm going to do it after I drop my car on springs.

i put spacers on my last Z4... don't really know if the car handled any better, but it looked MUCH better. only problem i noticed was that the rear tires wore pretty fast on their insides. i didn't have any wear issues until the spacers... just a heads-up.

For practical purposes an inch = 25mm. Like the link you were given, put a straight edge across the tire and measure the distance to the inside of the fender lip. A lot of guys run ET35 wheels on late model Z4's. Stock offset is ET47. That's out 12mm per side. About 1/2". GH

sweet thanks for doing the calculating for me. Any idea on the fronts? I'm probably going to measure it after I drop my car on Tein S.Techs.

AtoB: did you get an alignment after your spacers? That might be the reason why your tires wore unevenly

yes alignment is most likely the problem of uneven tire wear.
