Sound of a marble inside driver's side b pillar!!!
First time poster..
I've had my F30 since April and I absolutely love it. A few weeks ago, I noticed this sound coming from under my seat. After letting a friend drive and me sitting in the back, I localized the sound to inside the driver's side B-Pillar. It sounds like there's a marble rolling around..but it's not constant. I image it could be a screw as well.. I check the door hinges to see if anything looks awry, but all looks fine. Anyone ever come across this sound? It's driving me insane. I don't want to bring my car in for service since the dealership is so far away. I'm considering removing the side skirt to see if I can find the cause. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. |

Whenever I made a little "spirited" turn, there was something in the back rolling left and right. Sounded like a metal or plastic ball rolling around.
Took it to the dealer, they held the car for a week. They eventually found a little clip in the headliner. They said everything was in place and this clip didn't belong anywhere. So my guess is the clip jumped itself into my car during assembly for US tour. They said they literally took all the back area apart which made them take that long at the dealer. Take it to dealer and explain your issue. |

could be a weld or plastic part that came loose.

had this issue with mine too
but my problem turned out to be a rock that magically appeared inside the B pille from the underseat subs. BMW uses the B pillar as a chamber to make the sub sound louder. apparently a rock seeped through my carpets and into that so called chamber. lol |

So I'm not the only one with this annoying problem. It bothers me that they'll have to tear the car apart for this but I guess I'll bring it in for servicing...what a pain.

I got this too. Figured something fell through the hole under the seat. It stopped after a week, but that just makes me wonder - why? where did it go? . . ..

Something like this happened to me about 30 years ago in an Audi 4000. I had the back seat and one door panel removed before I found a marble in a rear ashtray. The slightest acceleration or deceleration would cause an annoying click as it rolled around inside.
A I described the experience during a coffee break the next morning, one of my buddies gets a shit-eating grin and says, "I knew you would find that, but I'm surprised it took you so long." He put it in there when he was in my back seat a week earlier. |
