Yesterday a spider just appeared on the top left corner of my windscreen. I figured let me just squash it but by the time I reached for the piece of paper I wanted to use, the spider just walked back into the headliner. I am referring to the part that runs from the roof to your dashboard but in the top left corner. I thought I could yank it back out with a wire but there is so much room for a whole family of spiders within that headliner. If you press it down with your fingers it just folds back in. I watched Charlottes Web with my kids a few months back so I am well aware that there could potentially be tonnes of spiders in there now, lol. Talk about unneeded weight.

I was thinking of using some form of a insecticide to kill them but figured winter is only a few months away. I will just make sure to leave the car outside for a week.

Spiders pump digestive enzymes from the midgut into the prey and then suck the liquified tissues of the prey into the gut, eventually leaving behind the empty husk of the prey.

I guess someone will soon find 300hp's empty skin laying in a nice BMW

Lol

One of my fears right now is this spider may just fall right onto my man parts area and proceed as you just laid out.

Is it possible to use a shop-vac and suck it out? I would imagine the heat will kill it eventually though.

That's the thing I am battling with, if I use heat or an insecticide, I think I will do damage to the car either due to the heat or the smell that's left behind in the car from the insecticide. I don't want to give this little thing any more credit than it worth by leaving some reminder of it when it's gone.

What is it feeding on in there?

I would definitely not use insecticide because it might stain. Try to force it out by using a piece of paper or something narrow enough to get in there.

I just thought the temperature increase from leaving the windows up and the car outside in the hot sun would be enough to kill it.

Not sure what it could be feeding on unless your kids are leaving crumbs in the car.

Reminds me of a rental minivan I had many years ago for a road trip with some friends. While we were driving quite a few spiders craweled out of the headliner and a pillars. The funny thing was the van was pretty much brand new when we picked it up from the rental company so they must have got in there at the factory

You see that line by the pillar, that's where it went back. If you feel and press down that area there is a lot of room in there for a spider to live a comfortable life. And someone said there is crumbs left by the kids and unfortunately for me the kids do leave quite a bit to sustain a heathy lifestyle for the spider, lol.

I've had a scary incident on the highway when a fairly large spider got away from me when I tried to squash it. Needless to say it squeaked away and I was paranoid for the remainder of my commute (which was a good 40 mins)!

The last spider I had in my car took refuge in the HUD.

My exterior is riddled with spiders as I often times park under trees or next to bushes. It's only a matter of time till they make it inside....quite annoying.

Vacuum your car!

I once had a bee get inside the cabin at a stop light (sunroof/all windows open), and that was scary as hell! Thankfully it left the car as the light turned green.

Thanks guys, it seems vacuuming the car is the popular option. I will try that out.

My bro in law has a 2012 Subaru Forester... Same problem with a random spider sighting. Went away for a few days and reappeared as he was running errands. Based on what I heard there was a girlish shriek which ended in him rear ending the driver.in front. Hope u find the lil bastard

In my mind, you only have one reasonable choice in this cruel world. Kill it with fire. It's the only way you can be sure.

Reminds me one time with my old car, was driving on the freeway when a spider decided to crawl up on the steering wheel at the 12 o clock position. Panic mode engaged. Nearly wiped out 5 lanes of traffic trying to get it away from me.
