Which FMIC does the best job regardless of size.
I have a Z4 35i and it has a huge amount of space to install a FMIC. I am currently running the HPF FMIC and it does a good job but I am wondering if I can get more out of my FMIC with the ability to use are much larger intercooler.

Just goofing off while I wait for my own bigger FMIC to arrive. Currently running an ETS 5", moving up to a VRSF 7" + meth.
Thing about big FMIC is they have to be sized for the application. If your IAT's are getting too hot under typical operating conditions, prolly need a better FMIC and/or meth. If not a bigger IC does you no good. But beyond a certain point the trade-offs between cooling and lag tip over to just lag. If you do not need a huge IC no sense in dealing with the lag. Can't cool anything down to below ambient IOW. |

I use the CXRacing FMIC kit which comes with all necessary hardware. You can get it off there website for like $600. Biggest FMIC I've seen for our cars.
Overall Size: 24"x12"x3.5" 2.5" Inlet & Outlet, 3.5" Thickness Core |

It's honestly not the most efficient core and utilizing the stock piping is very restrictive, it's actually been proven, many of our customers have upgraded the HPF to better intercooles because of those reasons. It is better then stock though.

Active auto race intercooler is huge and proven to drop only .5 psi across it

Not wild about the HPF unit.
AMS 7", ETS 7", Helix, VRSF 7" are all excellent.
