Gurgling, burbling N55 on deceleration
When I'm decelerating, around 40mph and below, I can hear a hollow "burbling/gurgling" sound.
At first I was thinking maybe my tires were out of round, but then the noise would always be there. Then I thought maybe the front control arms are loose, or bushings bad. But then that would also always be there... Then I thought maybe wastegate rattle... but I've watched videos of that and a wg rattle is a lot louder and more raspy... So I'm at a loss... it's too quiet to be picked up by my phone, otherwise I'd post a video. If I floor it and then let off the gas, it makes the noise, or when I'm just cruising a consistent speed and let off the gas or turn off the cruise control. It does it whether the engine is warm or cold... I can tell the frequency of it goes down as I decrease speed, until the rpms drop. Ideas?

Yeah I'm not sure that you guys are on the same page. The gurgle is totally normal - in fact, desirable to most. |

This is not normal. It didn't always make this sound. The only mod is a Vishnu tune...
The sound is coming from the front, not the exhaust. It's almost like something is loose. |

I do not think the terms you used were the best to describe your issue. As you are well aware most of the forum members wish to achieve a gurgle on their deceleration by adding a catless DP or exhaust.
Is the Vishnu disabling the exhaust flap? Or do you have the Golf Tee mod? Does it occur only when the car is moving or are you able to rev up and let the revs drop and hear it?

I'm not trolling. I have more self respect than to do that.
I'm thinking it is my tires after all, but not sure yet. I'm going to rotate them this weekend and see if the sound changes. It occurs only when I'm moving, so it points more to a drive/suspension/tire issue. If it's engine related, I'm thinking it would be referred to as more of a knock. But would a knock occur on deceleration? I wouldn't think so... and there are no codes being thrown. |

Well, after rotating my tires front to back, the sound is still there, but not as loud, and it has changed character. So I'm convinced it is the tires wear pattern, or a bent wheel.

i guess your gurgling sound definition is different than ours lol. nonetheless that's good, sounds like tire wear. If you take the wheels to get balanced, they will be able to tell you if the tire is bad or the wheel is bent. My guess is tires also since bent wheels usually just cause vibrations, in my experiences
