Meth kit or stick with E85
i live in san diego so it is a big pain to get anything from BMS due to the emission laws here. i usually have to order it to vegas where my sister lived but she moved back to SD last month. anyways my question is, i have a gas station that i can get e85 from and it is super close. should i just stick with E85 or try and go with both? i hear really good things about meth and would love to get a kit. is there any where that i can order a JB4 compatable meth kit that can be sent to san diego? thanks for all of your guys help!

E85>meth if it is available. You will run into fuel pump limitations sooner with E85 tho. Needs more flow per HP.

Might as well get the LPFP if you're looking to hit those numbers. You'll need it eventually even if you don't max the stock pump right away. I think ~E50% will get you enough octane to max out the stock turbo and the original LPFP seems to be capable of that, although I'd question for how long.
I'm running E50 on the stock pump and I'm not seeing any signs that it's not keeping up, I often see my AFR go richer than what I have targeted. |

Yeah.. I'm not sure if the JB4 can log LPFP pressure (cobb can't unfortunately) but that would be worth looking at, and obviously AFR and STFTs. I'm only basing my thoughts on AFR and STFT so I very well could be close to maxing out my pump.
I do have a feeling at ~17+ PSI with higher concentrations of Ethanol, spark is an issue. Spraying that much fuel plus all of the boost is causing what seems to be a misfire, even with new plugs. I have NGK 5992s gapped at .025 but I think they need to be .022 - Another member reported idle issues with .023 so I went with .025 but I might be blowing out the spark. I really don't feel like pulling them out so I'm going to see where I'm at after adjusting the map. |

Just decided to go with the stage 1 pure turbo instead of waiting. its getting installed as we speak. ill be happy with 420 or so whp for the price of the stage one. i am planning on going 50% e85 and 50% california 91 oct. you think with the bigger turbo it would be smart to get the meth kit since i will have a bigger turbo hungry for octane lol? thanks again for all your info

Good to hear, I'd like to do the LPFP upgrade at some point, and I'm thinking a JB4 might be soon as well. After some more testing I think I was just feeling throttle closures, which I think I have mostly worked out. Still strongly considering a JB4 however

Throttle closures with the Cobb are brutal... At least they were on my car. Sounds like anti-lag on a rally car. Lol Throttle closures on the jb4 are very smooth. You just feel a decrease in power, and that's it. Only time I've experienced them with jb4 is when I forget to turn off traction control and get into it hard. |
