Diverter valve broken

Hi guys

What is the behaviour of the boost when the DV is broken?

My dme throws a CEL error and reduced power and the JB4 is holding weird boosts between 1-5psi upon pressing the accelerator at 10-15%. It holds this boost but not evenly for more than 5 seconds at a time.

Can you post a log? Might be a leaking DV, best option is to replace them, or preferably, the entire chargepipe, with either a BOV, or upgraded DV's setup.

Have you confirmed there's not a boost leak elsewhere? TB connection, etc?

What is the code associated with the CEL? That will happen to your boost when you're in limp mode which would be caused by a number of things. Check the code with JB4 and post back.

I've had that rubber tube pipe replaced because it was fraying - guessing that's the TB?

I don't want the BOV sound (mainly because it's illegal here in Sydney). Any recommendations for a silent set up? I hear ER chargepipes from BMS is pretty good. Do I need to buy anything else?

By TB, I mean connection to throttle-body. There's an O-Ring and C-Clip sealing the pipe onto the throttlebody. Confirm both are seated properly, after pulling code with JB4 and maybe posting a datalog.

Others will chime in, but I have the Tial BOV, and under light to moderate boost, it's barely noticeable over stock DV's. You could get the VRSF that uses stock DV's and get a set of OEM DV's until they leak again.

The stock chargepipe's on these engines are known to break at the TB, or break in other places even under stock boost levels, let alone double that. So a chargepipe would be a smart investment anyway. Message some vendors about a good setup to keep noise at a minimal.

had a look last night and all the connectors are in place and no seals broken.

I think the code is hard to replicate and only comes on under certain driving conditions.

ie. Uphill @ 60mph? The more I think about it, I think it's a coil. Next time it comes up, I'll record the JB4 code read in dash.

How many miles on current spark plugs? How many tuned miles?

If it was a coil there would be misfires, and the DME would shut down that cylinder to prevent any potential damages.

I felt a loss of power as if a cylinder had shut down or two. However, what surprised me was that the turbo was boosting 1-5 psi even though I don't think it was. It would hold boost between 1-5 PSI with light acceleration a lot longer than usual.

Did the CEL come on and does the engine stutter when it happens?
