COBB N55 Charge Pipe

Looks like COBB now has a charge pipe for the N55 (and N54 as well). Linky. Not a bad price either. Definitely considering it since I'm still running an OEM CP.

Looks good. Thanks for the link. Might pick this up. Definitely some good CP selections out there now.

Finally someone is starting to compete with VRSF for affordability. Cobb's DP cost is still a little ridiculous though.

I was surprised to see the price was very competitive, great for anyone who doesn't need the meth bung.

I'm surprised they're in line with our pricing, this is probably the most affordable Cobb product yet

Too bad they're using worm gear clamps though, definitely a down grade over the t-bolts most of us offer.

We stopped using regular t bolt clamps on the 60+psi diesel stuff many years ago due to inconsistent clamp force and localized distortion around the circumference of the hose.

A constant torque worm drive with safety wire on a properly bead rolled pipe is more reliable, at the level where clamps start having issues you also need to attach your pipes to each other or make sure each is rigidly mounted.

Yes, worm drives are more even, but you have the issue of the silicone being destroyed from being pressed in the slots. Wiggins clamps are the way to go if you are going big.

Well yeah, if you use the cheap hardware store ones, but those are not what I am talking about. The good ones have an extended tail that protects the hose, or a full inner sleeve.

Hey all...long time lurker and finally 2011 e90 owner!
Thought I'd share my first (supporting) mod, as it's related to this post.
The Cobb Charge pipe seems to be of a nice quality...but what a PITA to install to the TB portion!!!

LiquidxStorm For the life of me I can't get the Cobb charge pipe to fit onto the throttle body, do you have any tips? I've used silicon lube and I'm forcing it so much on and I'm conscious about how much pressure I'm applying... PLEASE HELP!

Contact Cobb direct before you break something. There have been a lot of issues with the Cobb CP's. You may end up wanting to return it and look into something like the ER Charge Pipe. It's a little more expensive but at least it fits!

I can confirm, we've had to overnight a few chargepipes lately due to the problems with the Cobb flanges.

Oh shoot...I just got a Cobb CP and planning to install it this week
Can you please specify what is the problem with flanges? Do you have pictures of defective units?
Thanks

Flanges were most likely machined out of spec.

Not sure what that means. I received my CP today and noticed some imperfection, do you think it will be a problem?

mattybell_ I was forcing that thing up and down and every which way I could onto the TB. I even put some oil around it hoping it would help. After much grief , I finally got it positioned just right. Now when I swap it out (when bringing it in for service) it isn't as bad.
