A few questions for you guys...
Hi All. I'm new and I am hopefully going to get my car (335i) soon and I enjoy reading what you guys write except half the time I have NO idea what you guys are saying. Could someone clarify the following:
1. What is Dinan Flash? I know what Dinan is but what is Flash? 2. Whats a Dyno? 3. When you guys keep talking about Dinan, are you referring to Dinan's Performance Engine Software because everything else they offer is an oil cooler system? 4. What is WHP? Is that just amount of horsepower? 5. I heard of another company called Vishnu. Is Dinan supposed to be better? Thanks! Sorry for being a noobie |

Being a noobie myself, the only thing I will add is that the difference between the crank HP (which is what you see from the manufacturer) and in magazines and Whp which is measured on a dyno at the wheels is that the Whp is less by the amount of drivetrain loss (power loss during transfer from crank to the wheels)
BMW's have great (low) power train loss around 12-15% depending on manual vs auto.. this means that the crank Hp will be close to the Whp.. Audi is notorious for huge power train losses.. which is why an RS4 which on paper has so much crank Hp will lose out to an E92 M3 with less crank hp Hope this helps |
