MY awesome Turbo install. some post install questions
So my turbos have been going out and one day they exploded. Like latterly heard a boom and smoke came out my exhaust like its ww2. Anyways. i changed out my turbos with factory turbos with 7k on them. got them for a great price thanks to a guy in dallas. install was a pain ass on jack stands ( YES DONT TRY THIS AT HOME) So after i installed the new turbos i installed a new CP and forged DV valves. my problem is when I'm accelerating i hear a whistling sound, or whining sound as if its a vacuum cleaner in my hood. i put my jb4 in map 8 to turn off my new turbos and the sound is still there but only on acceleration .no matter how light the acceleration is i hear it. looked under the car everything looks okay. Any tips? I already checked the CP.

Install isn't that bad for me, can swap them in 8 hours on jackstands. Looks like you did it the way I do and take out subframe.

May sound stupid but if the car is running good, but just making the sound, where the in cabin air filter goes sometimes isn't sealed good and the air makes it sound like a whistle, happened when i forgot to tighten that on there..

I did notice one was super oily and oil was coming out due to how much oil the old turbos Dumbed into the system while leaking. Maybe it's a good idea to take off intercooler and clean inside. ?

Car is hitting boost target from logs. Only did one log lol. But it seemed like it's pulling hard. Raced a 5.0 mustang boss 302 with bolt ons and we were neck and neck I was in map 2 hehe. I replaced all vaccum lines while doing the the turbo. I took off and re installed the cp to make sure that's sealed good

Have you read any boost leak codes? I am sure there are a few people in Houston with readers if you don't have one.

I only got one boost leaks code that came with a cell and that's when I did a hard run in map2 and I think was running Lean at the time . But I think that's been taken care of. I think to trigger a boost leak code I need to start targeting 17+ see if it hits that. Leak maybe very mine if there at all

A leak whether tiny or large is a leak and any boost leak can potentially cause a whistling noise.
I'd look at your intercooler and their connections if you haven't already. Props for doing everything yourself, that's a lot of work! |

I looked at my intercooler coupling while putting everything together they were nice and tight but one had some oil marks coming out. Maybe just pull off the intercooler tonight and clean it up and re tighten the clamps. Wouldnt hurt i suppose. |

i replaced one of those gaskets that sit on there. (they didnt have the other side anywhere local) so i just cleaned it and reused it but those should be tight on there. i think if that wasn't on there tight i would be hitting 14psi. and it would be noticeably off when looking at turbo before putting everything together.
