Dinan flash dyno poll
No one has done it yet, there are guesses all over the map, let's all go on record!
Orb is getting dyno'd tomorrow, and there are records for 10 other 335s, including stock and PROcede (not sure if they have a 2.02 -- orb?). So let's do this in terms of gain from stock, maximum whp [SAE rwhp -- the dyno measure, not adjusted for drivetrain loss, i.e., not estimated crank hp like included in the Dinan stats] -- not max gain at certain rpm like Dinan claimed, but max vs. max. So if the stock average was 270, and orb's car does 310, that would be +40.

I'm guessing ~ 315WHP / 335 lb.-ft. RWTQ after the Dinan ECU Flash...a +45WHP/+55 lb.-ft. RWTQ. Let's see who gets closest to the target.

+50 would be acceptable....that would make my car 328 RWHP as my stock run was 278 RWHP corrected...

My guess is that torque will be up about 10 - 20% more than wbhp. E.g., +40 wbhp, +50 ft lbs.

I'm guessing they will be a bit less than PROcede v1.47 on 91 Octane.
Dinan's flash apparently has peak boost of 13.2 psi With v1.47 you get about 13.5-14 peak psi around 3200-3400 rpms. I don't know if the Dinan will have more boost up top then v1.47 though. It shouldn't be too long, but I'm sure someone with the Dinan flash will be able to meet up with someone with v1.47 and dyno there cars on the same day on the same dyno. I think I gained around 47-50 rwhp with v1.47 over stock. Without knowing how much boost the Dinan flash puts out from 4500-5500 rpms we wont' be able to accurately predict rwhp numbers. |

I say 53whp over stock. by the way, did he dyno his car stock??
Otherwise all of our guesses will be pointless.

I'm going with +50 also... I predicted 33x whp in another thread, but it really depends on the baseline for whatever dyno he uses so this is a pretty good idea for a thread.

Dinan Flash = Carbon Copy HP/TQ of 1.47 is my guess. I would have to say 1.47 was pretty much the end of the conservative nature of 335i tuning. Even JB which was conservative has moved in the direction of R and even H, adding more and more boost. Dinan doesn't want to blow up anyones car or put any unnecessary stress on parts. 320-330whp 350-375wtq

As I have said this before.. the amount of boost is usually a good tool to get an idea of how much more power.. since they are going from 8.5 to 13.2 ?? almost 5 lbs.. i would say it'll be at least 60-70 hp at the wheels.

NONE of the current tunes will make 60-70 hp to the wheels with just 13.2 psi peak boost. And you need to know more than just the amount of boost (at peak) to determine rwhp. Dinan has only said the peak boost is 13.2 psi. But if that happens at 4000 rpms or under that won't be the point where the car makes it's peak power. It would be much more valuable to know what the boost is in the 4500-6000 rpm range....it's in this range where peak rwhp will occur (usually 5000-5800 rpms to be exact). |

I think ORB will be running 94 octane (Chevron?), and if another Vancouverite shows up with a stock AT car to compare, I'll wager there's gains of about 55HP & 67 lb-ft at rear wheel.

Hm.. stock car makes around 270-280 hp.. most JB2S, 1.47, SSTT are making around 320-330 with just the chip and thats at 11.5 -12 psi.. so i don't see how at 13.2 psi, it can't make 60 hp at wheel.
