Question for those with JBL MS-8 & technic Harness
I've been searching but cant find anything definitive on this...
For those that have installed just an MS-8 on a HiFi system w/ a Technic harness, is there a special harness just for the MS-8 or is it the same as the HiFi add-an-amp harness? The reason why I am asking is because the HiFi harness doesnt have a 12v power/ground lead, but in some posts I've read that people installed it completely plug & play with just the harness. Or is the assumption that power/ground still had to be run independent of the harness and that's what's meant by "plug & play"? |

Technic makes special harness for MS-8 I think as he integrates the connector for MS-8 within and also provides the power, ground wires in the harness. Note that MS-8 does not need battery connection as the car maintains a low voltage signal to the Amp at all times hence allowing it to retain its settings. MS-8 works well with this low voltage. You may still be able to hack your existing add-an-amp hifi harness to work with ms-8.

Actually, the MS-8 has permanent memory; it does not require constant 12V to keep its settings.
The unit installed in that link above was used and still had the original settings from the previous owner at the time of the install. Quote:

The MS-8 harness is a custom version of the standard HiFi harness that you have.

Thanks! Im still kicking around the idea of maybe going with an XD600 instead of the MS-8 so I'll stick with the current HIFI harness and make it work. Thanks again everyone for responding!
