Does anybody run the goodyear eagle Gt tires?
Just wondering what you thought of them. I always liked Goodyear tires myself. I am in need of some new tires and am going with some 225/50/16s to replace the 205/55/16s. I read they are the same diameter and all. Anyway for you guys that run those tires how do you like them. Here is a link to them.

They stick well to the pavement which matters way more to me and the treadwear doesn't look bad to me either. Also, they are pretty beefy looking which I happen to like very much. |

My friend's running his second set of Eagle F1's and they're pretty decent but don't really inspire confidence on turns and grip like the Michelin PSS. The price for them these days are pretty tempting for budget-minded people but most of the bimmer enthusiast crowd jump on the Hankook Ventus V12.

I ran a set a few years ago on my E90 when they just came out. I found the dry and wet grip very good, and they were decent in the snow. The dry braking performance seemed a little lacking, but not terrible. Stopping distance was okay, it was just control seemed a bit "nervous" under anti-lock conditions.
I also am running them on my Wife's Z3 for the past 4 years and on that car they are nice tires. |

I has a set on my E36 and when they wore out I replaced them with Michelin PS2's and wow. The Goodyear wasn't a bad tire, just the Michelin was better. Noise, ride comfort, steering response and ultimate grip were all better. The Goodyear was better, however in it's breakaway characteristics, nice and progressive.

I work at sears auto center and we sell those, not a bad tire, I would suggest them, hankook evo v12 which a lot of people use, I would also consider continental dw, or dws, more towards dw over the dws, for the grip reason, best thing would be Michelin pss or pss A/S, I have pss, and yes they do grip, when heated up, they don't even spin I just go with lots of grip.

Had them on my WRX previously and was not a fan. Wore out super fast (way faster than my winters) despite only being on 4 months out of the year. Really poor grip in light snow too although that may not be a concern for you. Also fairly noisy. I wouldn't buy them again.

Might want to check out Hankook. Standard now. Inexpensive. Very good A/S tire, and their summer tire is on some surprisingly exotic rigs these days.

had them on my 09 GTI, pretty good in the dry but terrible in snow. I had to drive through about 3 inches of snow when they were first mounted and they were useless. I wouldnt buy them again because they did get very noisy after about 5,000 miles. Also, one was bad right out of the box and caused a thumping noise so I had to have one of those replaced. the michelin pilot a/s 3 seems to be the hot tire nowdays. costs about as same as the eagle gt if not less. would i buy the goodyears again? no. I think conti and dunlop suck too.

After doing alot of thinking and searching I decided not to go with the eagle gt. seems they are loud and are also discontinued. I ended up going with a set of 225-50-16 BFG Gforce sport comp 2 tires. they fit the rims nice and clear my fenders even being lowered with wheel spacers. they are wider than the stock size but the same diameter. they look good and the reviews seem to be really good. Guess I will see.

I'm running a square set of 255/40/17's and have no problem with road noise at 10k. I drive 260+ miles one way on my weekly commute and have no problem. Only problem I have has been getting them and keeping them balanced. Probably will switch to Conti's when these wear out.
