Garage List
That's been ripped from their subscription channel - Drive +.

Pity, as they will lose any revenue when it is pirated so quickly.

As good as the Golf R is, it would grow old very quickly with me. The 235i is much more 'my kinda car'.

Both excellent cars.

The M235i tested had a few extra add-ons like the LSD, greater BHP, Sport Exhausts etc than a standard M235i. So very much more expensive than the Golf R. But the Golf R is the 'better car' with better brakes, chassis, ride and with a more effective engine. BMW has uncorrupted steering being RWD.

For my purposes, the Golf R is the better car. ETTO.

I don't doubt the G R being better for you.

But doing 3k miles in 18 months, surely a G-Wizz is even better?

The Golf still looks bland for the kind of car it is. Apart from the daft (disproportionate) exhausts of course.

Seems like they did a tremendous job mechanically, then run out of budget for styling.

Bloody cheek!

I'll have you know that I did 1000 miles in my F30 this month alone and the month is not over yet! So I am now piling on the miles.

Maybe I'll keep the F30. Then, I'll have a true Superman combo, a Blue BMW and a Red R!

This is so true, in fact I think the GTi looks more overtly sporty than the R.

because the Golf R holds its value so well, even better then the GTD or the GTI, with the discount on drive the deal it comes out at £320 a month!! thats so bloody cheap!

its 26K when you take the DTD discount off, after 3 years its got a GMFV of over 18K, it only loses 8k in 3 years!!!

Its also a lot better looking then the M235i - and will cost much much less.

This is what will end up with.

Back to the 235i, we were at Sytner BMW the other day, wife had decent look around / tryout of 235i and a 225.

She definitely likes the 235, now got to look at selling my soul and wonder just how long they (330/235) would stay on the drive.

No we are not.

Anyway, you only ordered because it was cheap. Then you decided you liked it and not shut up about it since.

Brilliant residuals, brilliant to drive and own, dirt cheap to lease, 4WD and will piss on the M235i in the wet as well as the dry and when you see one 'in the flesh' you'll love it to bits. Sorry guys, accept it, BMW can be trumped and trumped with a vengeance.

And BTW, I did not make negative comments about the BMW to start with.

Hmmmm, with GTi you get RED stripe, A8 esque bumper strakes, and sporty hexagon grille, little splitters on the edge of bumper, black side skirt trim.

Golf R you get 1.6 Tsi features (silver stripe), although it does have the (copied from Audi) Silver wing mirrors.

Because the 3 Series are much better than a 2 Series and definitely a 1 Series, you need the space (do you?) and you are a badge snob as much as I was.

For a person like me, who likes a bit of speed, no more kids to kart around, low mileage, needs a space efficient car with 4 doors, living in Central London, the R is a no brainer. No available BMW fits the bill as well for me. As for the equivalent Audis and Mercs, they are fugly and horrid to drive in comparison. Oh, and the 1 Series is beyond help even from the best cosmetic car surgeon.

Is not the Excess mileage (per mile): *** 6.0p, truly a gift from Heaven?

I can explain the 6p per mile thing.....

The lease company know that your VW will be in the dealership service department for some time during the lease, not clocking up mileage, so a safe bet.

Yes but we argue the toss about the 3 series, petrol vs diesel, sdrive vs xdrive, adaptive vs passive suspenion and god knows what else.
So when you come on here talking about another marque and how good it is, what do you expect?
