Car Suddenly Feels Slower

I am taking my car in for service today (darned 6fl) so I removed the SSTT. It is amazing how different the car feels. Still this car is really impressive stock!

Sadly, removing a SSTT is a LOT slower than installing one. It took me a good 2 minutes to remove it in the very dark parking garage at work. I guess I was being extra careful because I had no tools (read guitar pick) and was trying not to get my suit dirty.

Give it at least a day before taking it in so that the ecu can adapt back.

OH...and be careful not to get your hand dirty...

I wanted to take a second to mention great experiences I have had with 2 people from this forum recently...

1. Jon at the MShop - Thank you so much for getting that vacuum hose for me. Your shop is extremely friendly and professional. If you have any trouble returning that hose, please let me know and I will gladly pay for it. Oh, and I am now seriously considering asking you to build ME an e46 wagon with a S54 just like yours.

2. Jeff - Thank you for spending the time thinking through my car's problem with me. Ultimately the dealership did not locate any particular defect. The car was re-flashed with the latest progman and hopefully that will do the trick. I really appreciate your time and patience!!! Our conversation reinforced my belief that I did the right thing buying your product.

For those of you who didn't read about this, my car recently had a radical knocking/rough running incident last week. It was a one time occurrence and did not lead (oddly enough) to any check engine light or limp home mode. I took the car to the dealer and they found that the car was running extremely lean on the rear bank of cylinders. Note that it was running wrong without the SSTT installed. An error code was stored in the DME noting the exact date, time, mileage, RPM, etc...of the detonation event. For some reason cylinder 4 failed to ignite at that particular moment. What's scary is exactly how much data is stored in the DME!

Now i just need to play a waiting game to see if it ever does it again.
