Earthquake sws-8xi Worth it???
I know this has been discussed plenty of times in the forum, but I haven't got my questioned answered. I was wondering if they are worth it!!
I currently have a JL Amp installed which made a big difference, and now I'm on the fence with replacing my under the seat subs. Should I do it? Thanks. |

I'm in the same boat. I put in the JL XD 400/4 with the Technic harness, but I'm not overly thrilled with the results. It sounds like you really need a processor if you get the Earthquakes though.

I personally don't believe they're worth it. Because from all reports I've seen, the Earthquakes really don't sound great for midbass.
Your actual mids in the doors probably are good to maybe 300hz? The underseats are there to handle the stuff from 300hz on down. The Earthquakes don't do that 300hz level very well. So from 300hz to about 120-130ish? It will sound like you're missing out on a lot of music. You could probably try pushing the door mids down to 200hz or so, but you'll still feel like you're missing chunks out of your music. |

Ditto to emoons statement.

Although your mid range will still be weak and muddy. You need to upgrade at least your front doors to . You just can't upgrade one thing and expect the others to keep up or be in balance. |

I'm going to guess, the better upgrades to keep a relatively stock look is get something along the lines of Jehnert Flatline kit. (I am positive 6spdcoupe can get those to you). I do believe MBquart and probably a few other companies have some sort of drop in replacement kit as well. Not sure where to source those pieces though.
And then follow along with kaigoss69's Infinite Baffle thread here for (most likely) the hardest deepest rumble you can get. For a slightly more stock look, go with a corner loaded subwoofer in the trunk however, it more than likely won't hit or rumble as hard as an infinite baffle setup. |
