235/40/18 vs 235/35/18 on 335i

I am in the process of replacing my stock rft's on my 2008 335i w/sport pkg.

I am definitely getting 265/35/18 in the rear so I am trying to figure out which tire works best in the front. Is it more important to be closest to stock diameter or to be closest in proportion to the new rear tire size.

275/40/18 is a difference of +6% in diameter over stock. Too much. You want to stay as close to stock diameter all around as much as possible.

I went with 225/40/18 up front and 265/35/18 in back and did notice a tiny bit more oversteer. It isn't bad but it is noticeable... I probably should of stuck with 235/40/18 in front if I could do it again. I'm on stock 18" wheels.

BTW, getting rid of the RFTs is the best thing you can possibly do. Car handles much better, traction from a launch is way better and ride is as smooth and comfortable. If you have an 07-08, you don't have to worry about the TPMS. It's not inside the metal valve stem like the 06's have so if you need to dump in the fix-a-flat or use your M-Mobility Kit, you can without any messing up your TPMS. It's located somewhere on the wheel hub by the brakes.. (I think)

i searched on discounttiredirect and they actually say 245/40/18 is the correct size to upgrade your 18's.

Differing Info...

Tirerack doesn't reccomend bigger than 235 for the front due to potential rubbing...

265/35/18 doesn't fit on stock 18's according to tirerack...

So just as I was about to buy the new tires, I noticed that tirerack has 255's as the widest you can go with a 8.5" wheel. I know some of you are running this size so how is it???
