Are 228i allocations easy to get?
Hi all,
I understand it's still very difficult to order an M235i (especially since I live in Florida...) but I was wondering what your experience was trying to order a 228i? Do dealers typically have more allocations for them? After getting quotes from my insurance, I am now considering both models. Thanks for your help! |

Appreciate everybody sharing their experience. I'm having a real tough time picking between a heavily equipped 228i and a lightly equipped M235i. The quick order turnaround is another factor I can keep in mind now.

Galeface, I ordered the 2014 BMW 228 almost fully loaded and when I called to change the seat color, the order was placed into production immediately and I could not change the order. I think the way it is placed into production is that each allocation number has a production date so you need to ask when the production date is for that allocation that is available to you. I wish the salesman did not place my order into service a few days before I signed the contract since then I could have my light seats that I truly wanted. I only wanted black seats when I was cleaning my BMW 128i Oyster Seats. I prefer to clean than be so hot when getting in my car when I come out of a seminar or when my car is not in my garage.

Thank you galeface for letting me know that you feel I made the right forced decision with the black Dakota leather seats.
228JB4, When I first heard of red seats three years ago, I thought of what you thought of! But now that I have had my prior BMW 3 years and have seen so many with red seats, now I think it is just a fun sporty look. Thanks for sharing the picture I had an image of also three years ago. |

I just feel red gets old after a while...fun like you say but maybe too flashy for me long term. But I get why the passionates would opt for the signature color.

Seems like BMW is really cutting back a lot on allocations for all BMW models across the boards. X models seem to be tough to get as well as some of the M cars. Not sure if its the growing amount of models they have now and the limited resources etc.. but either way I wish we could get more 2 series allocations!!

DM me your email address (hope what I'm asking isn't breaking any forum rules). I've been trying to get in touch with a client advisor from Vista to further discuss.

How do you have an allocation with an October build date? As far as I know, dealer allocations are given a month ahead, so the earliest you could have would be a September build?

there aren't any M235i's around so a customer placed an order to her specifications. I tracked the order friday and the production date for her specified vehicle is October. We currently have 4-5 2015 M235i's on order waiting to start production. so there is not really an allocation of them coming in but more of a waiting list for the ones ordered
