More than one dealer has told me debadging is least popular on the mid range engines. Debadging can be about clean lines but is often also about stealth - lower powered cars hiding their perceived lower status, high powered cars happy to go 'under the radar'.

The ole exhaust pipe always gives the game away. Time and time again I see 3 series cars on the road sometimes debaged and 8-9 times out of 10 with a single pipe. Its rare you see dual pipes - in comparison TBH.
Nothing wrong with 318's/320's at all. There just seems to be LOADS about.

I'm having my new 330d Debadged...I just kind of like the understated approach. Why do people need to know what engine I have? If you're a proper petrolhead and deserve to know, then you'll figure it out anyway..
If not, hopefully it will deter the casual joyrider thief etc... |

Though, if I'm cruising along in slow limits I seem to attract tail-gaters more than any slower and badged car I've had before. However, a safe braking distance can usually easily be re-gained at the end of the speed limit... So, tailgating could be looking for a badge or assuming its a slow car and trying to bully me out of the way...

Me too with my newly ordered 430d. I was in two minds when ordering it, but decision was made up after the test drive weekend. Sat at the lights with a Fiesta ST sat next to me revving away.... something I've never had in the de-badged 3 series. Also, Fiesta ST, er come on mate save what little dignity you have left.
Seems most with the 30d don't de-badge though though. Only 1 in 10 of the 430d's made since May were. |

I also suffer from the odd 'at the lights' or someone wanting to play, bit annoying. However, not sure what you mean about the Fiesta ST comment? Dual carraigeway etc, BMW no problem A road with tight bends, then your 45k BMW with it's rolly suspension will be not having it as easy. Apart from that for that type of car, the ST is an excellent drive and looks good. |

OT but the Fizzy ST is a modern day mini 1275gt. It's like a go cart round the twisty bits and no slouch in the straights....pretty much the only place a 1600kg 248bhp diesel would leave it is at Santa pod or the autobahn. ...330d xDrive is about 160 bhp/ton fiesta st is 150 bhp/ton

Fiesta ST is 1163kgs and 197bhp (200ps) which equates to 169bhp/tonne.
Then take into consideration many have had the Mountune upgrade to 215bhp and you then have 185bhp/tonne. Coupled with the outstanding chassis and you get an idea of why the motoring press are raving about them. Don't underestimate the baby Ford |
