CP with/without Meth Bung?

Is there any disadvantage to using a CP with a Meth Bung if I decide to never run Meth? (Other than wasting $25 in hindsight)

If there is a disadvanatge (even small), then I would get a CP without the optional Meth Bung. Otherwise, I'll spend $25 just for the sake of having the option if I change my mind years from now.

Not really any disadvantage to it. I don't plan on running meth, but also got a bung just to keep my options open.

Good to hear.

Wasn't sure if the plug could be affected by boost pressure. But that concern is ignorant at best since I don't understand the exact mechanics of how the diverter valve works with the meth injector - I just "know" that there's a threaded bung welded to the diverter valve to allow installation of the meth injector, if one decides to use it.

N55 charge pipes don't have a provision for a diverter valve. That's on the N54's. Our diverter valve is built into the turbo. Having the meth bung welded into the charge pipe won't affect boost pressure.

The plug is a big set screw, so it can't come loose.

Its actually always better to get meth bungs even if you are not planning on using meth.
In case in the future you change your mind, you wont have to buy another CP
or if you decide to sell the CP it will be a lot easier to do so.

You'll have better resale value and you'll be prepared in case you decide to go with meth in the future if you have a meth bung.

We don't charge extra for meth bungs, they're already pre-existing on all our chargepipes

Thanks everyone for the excellent feedback. It seems the chance the bung would leak is extremely small and even if it did, tightening the cap should take care of it.

Stealing my own thread here but any opinion on ER versus BMS chargepipe BESIDES the fact that they are both quality with maybe slight edge in quality going to ER but maybe slight edge in value going to BMS. Looking for anything else worth noting about these two charge pipes, or if you disagree with my assessment.

Thanks again for your expertise...

I would recommend the VRSF chargepipe, when you consider that they all offer similar performance the price point of the VRSF just makes more sense.

My chargepipe just cracked and I ordered the VRSF. If you were talking about DP or FMIC I would say there may be a point in spending a little bit more for a product that has been proven to be more effective, but if this car is not tracked often then the small improvement is really not worth the extra money.

All my opinion of course. Also, Tiago is great to work with.

Thanks a lot, I greatly appreciate the recommendation!

Just a small note, we offer the most popular downpipe and FMIC options available right now for the N54. We have dedicated race cars running our chargepipes, downpipes and intercoolers and we have cars putting down over 670whp running our intercoolers. Spending more won't always get you a better product, at least not while we're still around
