"Mobile Office" set up in iDrive?

Hello guys,

I searched but didnt find a thread on this. Is there something Im missing with setting up the "office" feature so the car notifies of emails and texts and reads them to you if you want to?

Im going to start digging through the manual now, but figured it would be good to have a post on this. Ill post up if I find the setup process as well.

Mine just works from my phone. Once it was paired the messages started showing up. Nothing from before that time, but everything after.

Apparently you need the notifications set up a certain way. I had it working for a day, but it's not working again.

Assuming that you paid the $500 for the 6NS/coded 6NS in your M3:

- at the iDrive: enable "Office"
- at your iPhone: enable "Show Notifications" in the Bluetooth connection. This must be done before pairing; if done after pairing then texts will not show in that pairing session. They will show up after the second pairing.
- that will automatically show texts only in the iDrive display under "Messages"/envelope icon
- to enable emails display: after each and every time the iPhone is paired to the car, go to the iPhone and kill the email app. This will enable email display in the iDrive display. If this not done each and every time then emails will not display.

Anything after iOS 6 will work... again, you must have 6NS for this to work.

Yes.

Try changing the messages to "Alerts" and not "Banners", and Sync the contacts.

Somehow your phone is sending nothing via Bluetooth. You have to force it to send something, at least the contacts.

Well I think have figured out my problem of why I can't see sms or email in my car... iPhone 5 does not support that function!!! WTF!! It looks like only some androids get full sms and email functionality. This blows!

Alright then.. Now I am really getting frustrated. I am wondering if this compatibility is also carrier specific or what? I can get the envelops up that show where the messages would be stored but I cant get anything to go in them. I am not even seeing the google maps directions that I send to the car either.. I dont know what gives Does anybody have any other recommendations on how to get this to work with an iPhone 5?

You are getting something then... what do you see when you go to Messages in your iDrive?

Google Send to Car has nothing to do with your texts or emails at your iPhone, that is BMW Assist.

I go to messages and it says no messages found. I then try to force the update in the options menu and still, nothing.

You may have to delete phone from iDrive pairings and at the iPhone "Forget this Device" then start the pairing process again.

The envelope icon means that you are receiving a text -either from Google Send a Car or from your iPhone. Messages should show up under the Messages submenu.
