MSDS Stage 2 Intake?
Is the MSDS Stage 2 intake any good? I saw that the stage 1 part is a little bent, but allover it looks pretty efficient. I saw the thread under the Sticky of the performance mods for the intake, but didn't see any dynos. Does anyone have a before and after dyno of the Stage 1 or Stage 2? I think the Stage 2 looks alright. Anyone who wants to throw in their 2 cents, feel free.

Maybe I'm missing something. Someone on here HAS to have the setup.

...and please hurry up with the dynos. problem with intakes is i do not think anyone <(non sponsor) forum member has dyno´d gains for ANY intake.... as we know, most vendor claims are way too optomistic.

down4it, has it but he didn't do just a dyno for the intake, but you can get an idea of the gains.

+1 for dumb vendors not posting dynos . Mike you need to dyno stock and then with the VIP CAI.

on a conservative side: 20-25, the stg 1 alone gave 12whp.

I wish i could say how much the MSDS intake gained but the fact is my car has too many mods to be able to tell at this point, it is however a great intake system and i would recommend anyone to buy and install it... Someone needs to get a dyno before and after just the intake to show the gains... My dyno was a bit messed up with the settings and map i was running and the car just wasnt running right. Im gonna go back on the dyno when i get 2.0.3 after all the holidays and see what happens with a map made for the mods i have with 100octane...

To the wheels? I would assume that is after a piggy back right? Or is it really efficient to standalone give you that much whp gains? I never heard of an intake giving that big of a gain on its own.

Andrew,
I'm trying to get Jacque to become a sponsor on here so we can start distributing more information. We are planning on setting up a dyno day in the near future with either my car or his car to get peformance deltas (changes) from product to product, such as the intake. With JBS2 and catback exhaust, I could definitely feel the increase. With JB2H and the ECU reset...OMG, it is running the way it is supposed to be. Walked my friend's stock E46 M3 by 5 CL to 120 mph and backed off there. My car has come alive. If somebody can show us the dyno of a delta of 20-25 whp (conservative?) for the MSDS S2, I have the wrong intake. Those would be incredible numbers. In the end when you see an intake, it's a tube with a filter on the end of it. The true designing goes in fitment and its ability to maintain a linear pattern as well as a larger diameter of tubing. I'm actually surprised we don't see more owners reporting back on the MSDS system. Would love to see some official customer numbers, as well as my own personal numbers...for comparison's sake. Mike |

I would pull the intake out, do a few runs. Install the intake, go drive 5 miles, come back (hoping the ECU had time to adapt) and dyno to see the max, or adapted HP. I figure that's what we're going to do once we do the dynos.
Interested to see the results. Mike |
