New BMW Owner
Hello Everyone,
New BMW owner here. I just purchased a 2007 BMW 335i sedan Arktis Metallic with 44km. I have always owned Japanese cars and have always driven manual, but unfortunately, I had to get an automatic this time. The wife needs to drive it as well. I have to say that this car has renewed my passion and excitement towards cars and driving again. The power, handling and looks of this car is just beautiful. I am not planning to do anything crazy with this car. What I do want to do in the near future is upgrade the steering wheel with paddle shifters and installing a Dynavin or something similar with Navigation and Bluetooth. I am located in Ontario, Canada (Durham region). If anyone local has done any of the upgrades above I would appreciate suggestions and comments. I have been reading a lot on this site to educate myself about these cars and have certainly absorbed a lot. Plenty of info here, which is great. Thanks |

Welcome
Nice car as well! If you want to really kick it up a notch, you can invest in a COBB AP for easy PnP tuning, gain quite a few horses with minimal effort. Or, a JB4 which is a bit more invasive on the install, but worth it, and significantly cheaper. Pretty much any tune out there is usable, with amazing gains, on a completely stock platform if you don't plan to do much in the way of mods.

Welcome to the family fellow Canadian,
Did I read that right only 44km? (regardless if its 44,000km) thats still extremely low for an 07! Nice pickup, as for mods, I'm more cosmetic than anything else just because I'm fine with the current hp these monsters push out. Have fun, I guarantee this will be the most enjoyable car you've ever driven. |

Thanks All,
Honestly, jumping from a 4 cylinder Honda Accord this is plenty of power for me without getting into too much trouble. Not planning to track the car. I do enjoy driving on back roads and twisties. Personally, I love the way this car sits as it is, stock. Not a lot of wheel gap compared to Japanese cars. I would probably just do bigger rims and tires later on in addition to the previous mods mentioned earlier (paddle shifters and stereo). |

For sure this is the most enjoyable car I've owned. I have owned 2 Accords and a Civic in the past. All have been bullet proof, but definitely lacking in the power and excitement compartment. It's a bummer we've been getting so much rain in the GTA. I was going to drive the bimmer tonight, but looks like I'll have to drive the wife's car. e90Cam - where in the GTA are you from? |

I've drive 2 Japanese cars before this as well (MDX & TSX) and this by far was the best car about it, the only thing I miss compared to them is the low end torque. |

Ouch, I didn't know it was hailing as well. Any damage? My car is parked in the garage and she comes out when it's nice out. What I do love about Japanese cars is you feel like you can push them all you want and they'll be fine. These cars seems to be a little more sensitive from what I've read. Always been a fan of the original TSX, but once you I drove the twin turbo I was hooked. |

Thank you. The colour has really grown on me. I wasn't sure at first. I had my mine set on a black bmw, but found a great deal on this one. What I do love about this colour is no one seems to have it. Also it changes colour in different lighting conditions.
It was pretty bad, luckily no damage. I find it the opposite tbh, I'm always scared to push my (TSX) just because I don't know what the limitJapanese are it understeers and what not. With the e90, I feel more in control of everything (better brakes, handling) and it's easier to correct if anything does go south. My answers are a bit bias just because I only drove the TSX for a couple of months while I've been driving my e90 for over a year now.
I was referring more to reliability and replacement parts. When it comes to performance there is no comparison. Power, handling, brakes are far superior than any japanese cars I've driven. * |
