NOS OCTANE BOOSTER (Racing formula)
Do you guys know is this any good. They say it has (among others) a small amount of nitromethane in it and raises octane number +7.Is it safe, I've heard a lot about dangerous octane boosters on the other hand Nos is a well known company..

Nos racing formula raises octane 60 points. NOS off road formula raises it 70. It actuality, it raises it about 2.5 according to some tests. Do a search for the europeancar lab tests

also, is that 1 bottle per tankful to raise the octane this much? lastly, regarding octane gains: is it important what octane base u have when adding the NOS booster ? thanks

Well considering $15 will be the extra you pay for putting in 6 gallons of 100 octane at $5.99 gallon. (+$2.50 gallon) Won't 6 gallons of 100 octane mixed with 9 gallons of 91/93 octane raise the overall rating by 2.5 at least?

I would stay away from the octane booster's, they contain MMT which will turn your plugs orange and possibly leave deposits in your combustion chamber.
Yes, they work (because of the MMT)...however, for me its not worth it. I mix 100 octane unleaded with 91. |

thanks, i will look for another solution...
i am thinking of adding toluene to my 85 octane, but not sure if adding some sort of oil/or other protection to gas + toluene mix will protect the seals in my fuel delivery system. conflicting opinions on toluene...any thoughts, comments? thanks

When you get into adding toluene, plus oil(marvel mystery oil or auto trans fluid) it just gets kind of scary for me. The risk to me is not worth it. |

Test was done on 91 octane. It seems to work. I wouldn't use it at every fill, only when you're out of gas and no access to 100. |
