How is demand for N55 335i's? Considering value if I sell mine...
My lease is coming up on my 2011 335i M-Sport coupe and I'm trying to decide if it's worthwhile to buy it and flip it. I can get an extraordinary deal on it if I buy it but I'm trying to save for our wedding, and I *shouldn't* buy a car. But if I can buy, flip it, and make a little cash for the wedding fund, that would be great.
Details about the car: 2011 BMW 335i 6MT Black Sapphire, 39,000 miles Black Sensatec Seats Navigation Tech package (apps, ipod, enhanced bluetooth, etc) Sirius Satellite Radio Heated Seats The car has a few modifications - Procede, downpipe, Vanguard exhaust, CAI, H&R springs, and some nice 19" wheels and tires (see picture below) The vehicle will come with the balance of the full factory warranty (ends at 50,000 miles or July 1st, 2015). It will also come with the Certified PreOwned warranty until 100,000 miles or July 1st, 2017. This was the first new car I've ever owned/leased and I have been absolutely NEUROTIC with making sure it was clean, etc. Only detailed by Ivan @ Lustr Auto Detail and only washed by me EVER, with the 2 bucket method. This car will be as good or better, cosmetically, than a new off-the-truck vehicle. I did some brief searching on Auto Trader and Cars.com for reference and see them listed from $30,000-$38,000. The higher priced cars were CPO and had factory warranty left (like mine). In order for me to make it worth buying and flipping it'd have to be closer to the higher end of the scale. Do you think it's worth it? Should I buy it or just return it? One of the other bonuses of buying it is that I don't have to pay my over mileage (I'm over by 2,800 miles), and I don't have to de-mod, potentially. Let me know what you guys think. photos: |

almost 40k miles so you might get $30k-$33k in a private sale. Reason I say that because my E92 loaded sold for close to $34k at the dealer and it had about 25k miles on it.

^^ That's an unusual deal. I'm curious what the average is.

My 2011 335i, a lease return, had 18,000 miles but was bone stock. Other than M suspension, it didn't have many other options, e.g., no navigation, no idrive, etc. I got it for $31k, which was about $5k under KBB. I then spent $2.5k on an EVP warranty.

I got my 2011 manual trans, M-Sport sedan with 33k miles for $28k last spring. It is fully loaded with all packages but no nav and it was in outstanding condition. No mods.
$28,000 was an outstanding deal and I am guessing most similar cars were going for more like $30k. Maybe as high as $33k if at a dealer and CPO. So I would guess you're looking at a similar range. M-Sport cars are kind of hard to find so I bet if you just posted an ad prior to the lease ending saying you are selling it in X weeks for $XX,XXX then you would get a good idea in a week if there was a lot of interest. For a buyer, knowing that it is either act now for this much money or the deal will end will motivate serious people to contact you immediately. If you can make a few grand for the trouble it will easily be worth it. |

I would agree with the 28k-30k estimates. The reason why I don't think you would get anymore is because your engine is modded and tuned. I think if anything that will bring the value down a bit and also limit the market of people willing to buy it.

This is definitely true. When I lived in Kansas City, there weren't many used 335s on the market so people were asking absolute top dollar for them. But I'm sure Chicago is different since it's a large city.
