Best Tire Size: LCI xDrive Coupe, lowered on 19s so no rubbing...

*** EDIT *** Even though most people said 225/35/19 and 265/30/19 would work I was getting a binding sensation when turning and a weird push/pull sensation upon acceleration. I talked to TireRack and they then advised I should have a 235/35 front. They shipped the new size out which should be here today.

Before I put them on I want to see if anyone can confirm 235/35/19 & 265/30/19 would work. I don't want to pay to have these mounted again then run into TC issues once more.

Thanks!

Hello All! I have been piggy backing on other peoples threads and wanted to create my own to see if I could get the best answers, as I want to purchase tires this week.

I have a 2011 (LCI) 335 xDrive M-Sport Coupe. It is lowered on Eibach Springs with Bilstein B8 Shocks. I would estimate that the vehicle is lowered 1.3-1.5 inches. I have almost a 2 finger gap in both front and rear (apron 1.25 inches).

I just purchased a set of wheels, specs below:
Front wheels: 19 x 8.5 ET 35
Rear wheels: 19 x 9.5 ET 33

I really do not want to roll my fenders, if at all possible. Knowing that what would be the best tire size so that I don't have to role fenders if possible.

225/35/19 & 255/30/19
225/35/19 & 265/30/19 (is this within 1% rolling diameter? )
235/35/19 & 265/30/19

Would running a 255 in the rear as opposed to a 265 reduce the risk of rubbing?

The car is a daily driver - I will not track the vehicle, nor do I drive it hard or fast so traction around corners isn't a huge deal to me.

For reference, attached is the gap which I currently have at my rear wheels with the stock 255/35/18 Style 193M wheels.

Any input would be great.

I also read that "Revs Per Mile" is important and it should be within a 2,3, or 4 rotation difference. Is this true?

I found a set of Yokohama S-Drives (225/35 & 255/30) but the revs per mile were 823/828 - which a difference of 5. Is that OK?

The Hankooks I were looking at (225/35 & 265/30) were 823/821 - which is only a difference of 2. Also they Hankooks also appear to be within 1% rolling diameter, can anyone confirm (225/35/19 = 640.1mm diameter & 265/30/19 = 640.6mm diameter)... it looks to be closer than the 225/35 & 255/30 setup - is this correct?

Thanks!

Well - I spoke with "Steve" from TireRackand he said the 225/35/19 and 265/30/19 would be the best setup for the xDrive.

So I went ahead and purchased them as they were on sale Hopefully this size will work well. $600 shipped for 4 brand new tires, not bad in my opinion.

Gary@TireRack - I added you as a reference for the sale

^ Will do! Now I am having a hard time finding places to mount the tires. Most shops won't do it as they say it is too low pro. The ones do that want $40-50+ a tire. Crazy

York, Pennsylvania.

I found one place that is .5 miles away that will do it for $35 a tire - but it is a "Mom/Pop" shop and I am not confident the wheels won't get scratched.

I found another place 40 minutes away that will do it for $45 a tire - they seem to have great reviews from people with similar setups.

Decisions - more than likely I will make the drive.

Great timing on this thread as I just purchased some KW V1's and casually looking for rims and tires at the moment. I'm thinking staggered 19's in the same size as the OP on my LCI E90 that I'm hesitant to roll the fenders on. My fear is the highest setting on the V1's may still be too low and have some rubbing issues with the same fitment as the OP suggested.

Can anyone confirm?

Just got the wheels installed and took a few crappy pictures.

I have plenty of room. I could (and I think should) have gone with a 40/35 series tire instead of 35/30 as I have close to an inch gap still. I could also come out a few MM with the offset so perhaps a small 2 or 5mm spacer in the future.

Overall I like them!

It is lowered about 1.5 inches on Eibach springs and Bilstein B8 Shocks I can't go any lower unless I get K1/K3 coilovers - and with the roads around here that wouldn't be a great idea. Terrible pot holes.

Looks good but the 225 front is a bit skinny for my taste. The 235/275 combo looks the best, not to mention the rolling diameters are the same and you get a bigger contact patch front and rear.

You'd be fine on V3's, regarding the crappy roads. I drive on i95 every day through tons of construction and potholes. Once I ditched the runflats, the car eats bumps. You can adjust the dampening and whatnot for a softer ride. Only issue now, is scraping the underside of the car on pertruding manhole covers lol

If I could do it again I would go 235, I really thought I would have a problem with rubbing so I played it super safe but I actually have tons of room.

Oh well - next set of tires will be 235 & 275.

I think if I were to lower it any more my wife would not be too happy She doesn't mind the ride right now but any lower I do not think she would want to ride in the car.

And that is no bueno as road jibbers would go bye bye..... j/k...

Seems OK so far - only driven about 20 miles all less than 50mph. They are pretty quiet which is good. I just wish I would have gone a size up to 40/35.
