O2 Sim with Catless DP's

I suppose this is more for Terry and/or Shiv if the PROcede is set up for simulation. But I assume that at least the rear O2 sensor set will be intercepted in the DME box. But what will everyone do when they go in for service?

If simulators are in place and the dealer decides to look into the DME box, they have reason to put a black mark on that vehicle.

If you remove the Sim, there is a good chance you might get a DTC on the way to the dealer which will result in a similar response by the dealer.

Just curious what the thoughts were here and if a sim could be added in-line with the sensor; possible in a connector? If not, what has the success rate been with anti-foulers?

To be 100% candid, the dealer will easily notice the downpipes and know what's up. If you modify your car with downpipes don't expect the dealer not to notice.

I agree for the most part. But I suspect more time is spent above, than below the vehicle. Just food for thought though.

Which begs a question, is everyone who has purchased catless DP's aware they may have given up their powertrain warranty?

i have catless DPs and am getting my oil change tomorrow. lets see what the dealer does..... (not that they can void anything since its not harming anything)

Again to be candid, even catted downpipes probably void the powertrain warranty. Anything that adds more horsepower can void the warranty if the dealer wants

I suppose, that will probably depend on the dealer. Unfortunately, I wonder how many people have purchased DP's without knowing the possibilities.

Again, this is just speculation, but we will probably see responses in the near future.

I had catless DPs on my E90. The way I avoided getting slammed was(having no O2 simm at the time), swinging by Midas ~1 mile from the dealer and getting my codes cleared (no C-reader at the time). The cleared codes should last you at LEAST 5 - 10 miles, which they wont do bringing your car in and out of the bay. I had this done and had my car test driven for a fuel pump problem, and they had no CEL occurrance. So clear your codes from the DPs before you go in, and you should be golden.

Not sure that is convenient for all. Plus, those pesky Readiness tests would also be reset.

Having catless dps messes with your emission control system. That is enough to void warranty.

Anything catback, they will have to fight you on.

I love how your dealerships crap you out on stuff like that.

My dealership jumps at the opportunity to replace stuff, regardless of mods on the car (to a point..doing an oil change with catless downpipes doesnt void the warranty...the alpina 335 makes more power than your car with DPs so whats to cause an issue?)...its all about CSI for them.

Yeah some dealers are cool.. I've brought in 500rwhp cars and had them cover things, and I've had other cars with basically just an aftermarket muffler and gone home with a huge bill. There is no replacement for a cool dealer.
