BMW’s Maintenance Program Is A Great Program—For the Initial Buyer.
Just came across this article in BMW CCA website published on 7/13/14 with some bad news that will impact the biggest resale incentive for all BMW cars and especially those that come off leases. Thankfully I just signed the papers for my F80 in June so will not apply to my vehicle as I have leased with the intent of getting into LCI/Comp Package in 2+ years or whenever it is available. I have to believe this will impact the % residual values as well in time in some way

Damn that's brutal... That makes me not wanna own another used BMW
This will hurt new and used buyers lol a used 2016 M6 will be no different used than a 2006 SMG M6 when you take it in for service |

Resale advantage for all the early purchasing people like me when it comes time in the future to move on.

Dealer stated that they will still be able to "reactivate" this on a car they have accepted as trade-in and carry it on to whomever might buy the car next, if still within the original term of maintenance, so they weren't expecting to see much of a change on trade in values. I don't know how true that is, but this was one of the few times he wasn't trying to sell me something, so I believed him. Sealed the deal on mine June 30th anyway so all good either way

Maintenance not transferable for 2015+ model year.
I didn't see a thread on this, but for those of us that flip cars pretty quickly, this is a bummer. I found about about it when I went to place my F80 order.

yeah. effective for my2015 retail deliveries after 1 july 2014. you have to sign a document when you buy the car explaining this is to be the case and that you understand it. i guess because it is such a wholesale (no pun intended) change from the past practices. transfers between domiciled-members of the same household are still permitted.
