E92 2007 - Alpine Audio Upgrade - Installing Subwoofer

Guys,

Was wondering if anyone has had the Alpine Audio upgrade fitted in their E9x and then installed a stand alone subwoofer in the boot? I'm looking to do this in my car but not sure if it's possible... I plan to replace the Alpine amp with an aftermarket 4 channel amp which will then have to power the front speakers, tweeters and then a subwoofer in the boot (it may be 2 subs).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Please let me know if I have missed out any information.

Thanks

ive done that in my 06 e90:

I used a loc (low output converter I think it stands for) took the audio input from the alpine amp inputs , then used the rear cigarette lighter socket (in the armrest ) as a switched 12v to turn on the amp as this is only live with ignition on. then wired +12v direct to battery and gnd to a point in the boot area by the combox.

Thanks for that, sounds like what I want to do.

Also I got it wrong in the original message, the Alpine amp does power the underseat subs as well. So with your current setup, your Kenwood amp powers the tweeters, front door speakers and your sub and then you use a low output converter so that your amp allows only low frequencies through to your sub?

Sorry I'm not massively technical.

Thanks

the alpine amp does the tweeter , door speaker and subs.

the kenwood amp just does the kenwood subwoofer in the boot.

I used:

to convert the speaker level inputs to low level inputs for the kenwwod amp.

I took these from the alpine amp inputs.

Oh ok then, you have two amps set up, now it makes sense.

How powerful is your amp? Is battery life ok for the car?

Thanks

It's rated at 500watt @ 4 ohm or 1000watt @ 2ohms

My battery seems fine at the moment, I wouldn't sit their with it on though without the engine running as I would say it will flatten your battery in no time.

I killed a 10 inch kenwood sub with it seeing how much I could put through it lol so I turned the gain down a bit and got a 12 inch instead.
