LCD on Prof Rad fading

I've noticed that whenever it gets hot in my car, the display on my radio starts to fade. It's like individual pixels in the display just fade to near black. Only happens when it's really hot outside. Does anybody else have this or know what it is?

That has happened in many cars that I have owned. Not just BMW. It's probably a trait of the LCD panels in general.

Several of these are about the display and how to replace it.

This is an old problem dating back to the last century.

Thanks for the replies. I have confirmed that this is a common problem with LCDs in general.
