Adding coolant: what? Low coolant light

So, like many before me, I got the "low coolant" light a few days ago after installing a catless downpipe. Checked my coolant and it was really low. No visible leaks (took it to my trusted bmw mechanic), he said these cars sometimes eat coolant so just top her off and monitor every morning.

So I went to bmw and bought "bmw coolant". While there, I asked a few bmw employees what the best way to add it was and got three totally different answers...
1) if topping off, use straight coolant
2) always use 50/50
3) "just use water, that's what we do (says service advisor with a smirk)"

So I'm a bit confused... I figure 50/50 is the way to go but then again I was in a pinch the other day and added about 20oz of water... Maybe I'll add 20oz of straight coolant to even things out? Screw it. Racecar.

What do you guys think?
Also, any thoughts on if I should dig deeper into the low coolant situation? Or just trust my mechanic that these cars mysteriously eat coolant...

Is this car in Florida or Chicago? Your sig says you are from both places.

Florida, I would add as much distilled water as you need to keep it topped. Chicago, I would mix to the manufacturer specs. 50:50.

Do it right and add 50/50.

I think they're full of shit- your car should NEVER be consuming coolant.

My N55 has consumed small amounts of coolant from new. I have to top up about every 9 months.

That's scary...I've heard of oil, but not coolant. I guess it's possible.

Idkk man, my buddy is a Porsche tech at champion Motorsports and he says they have to top off the Porsches in the summer also. So apparently the n55's aren't alone in this matter. It is nonetheless weird though. Another person said (and I quote so don't kill the messenger) that since there is water it can eventually evaporate, leaving lower levels. But then again, these systems are supposed to be sealed lol so idk about that
