HID light out, won't turn back on with normal bulb
I installed HIDs in my halogen headlight and I thought my HID went out, but I put the normal bulb back in and it still don't get any light. Do I have to reset it or something?

Passenger side. Got them a year ago. Had the headlight malfunction error pop up every now and then, now the headlight won't work at all.
Took it to bmw, I'll keep you guys updated. |

This actually happened to me a while back... It fried my headlight panel. I had to get it replaced. If you placed the original bulbs back in before you brought your car in, BMW should replace it under warranty. If not... thatll be an easy $1400..

Really disappointed with underground euro with this one. I brought this to their attention when I first installed it and now it fried my FEM module. |

Not to rub salt in your wound but that was a $1800 mistake you'll never make again. Always revert back to OEM when bringing into BMW with problems. Last edited by dtn; 07-11-2014 at 07:43 PM.. Reason: typo |

In all my previous non xenon BMWs I always installed MTEC HID. Not a single issue on any of the cars ranging from e46, e87, e70.
They are more expensive but IMO well worth it. |

I wonder if you can erase the vehicle history with Esys... would look suspicious with no history for the cars modules, but they couldn't prove any wrongdoing hopefully.

I spent the past two hours at my buddy's shop checking fuses, testing connections & grounds, and ultimately pulling all of the HID equipment off my car for this same apparent reason. I'm putting the factory lights back in and taking the car into the dealer tomorrow morning.
My HIDs worked for about a year and a half with an intermittent "right low beam malfunction" light as well, just in case anyone was wondering. Silly BMW for putting a computer chip behind every single piece of electronics on the car. |

To the Guys, who bought the underground euros hid kit for the low beam and had an issue with the FEM mod. I have a few questions about the install.
Did you leave the ballast in the head light or did you guys drill a whole threw the cap and mount the ballast outside the head light? |

Update after taking my car in this morning for this issue -
Besides the passenger light not working, the entire driver's side inner assembly somehow broke off of the mounting post or whatever it is called. Even though I put everything back to stock the dealer is saying that BMW will deny the warranty claim because someone was "clearly" messing with the headlight assemblies. Apparently BMW expects a person to not change a headlight bulb even if it burns out and even if the owner's manual says exactly how to do it because if the owner touches it than it must be his or her fault that it broke. On top of that the service advisor thinks a new bulb with fix the passenger side that is burned out, even though I know that isn't the problem. |
