E85 with JB4
Found a Valero near my house that sells E85. Its a pain to get in and out of this gas station due to the location, but its very close so I just have go there during off-peak times.
I'm on JB4 map 5 and did an approx 60/40 mix of 93 octane/E85. Car pulls very nicely. Is there any "ideal" ratio of 93 to E85? Any other suggestions for running E85 with the JB4?

Do you have flex fuel wires? I think 30% is what you can run without the wires. I run 50% (8 gallons) on mine with the flex fuel wires. Be sure to "teach in" map 5. Do 3-5 pulls in 3rd gear. Start at 2500rpm and take it to redline. You will see boost climb each time you do it until you max out around 18psi.

20% max without FF wires. I run E40 also and I hit the full 18psi map 5 will provide. E30 is probably all we need, but I go a little higher in case I get some E85 with lower content. Even though it says E85 it is never actually E85. Many places are E7x.

I don't have flex fuel wires. What do those do and where can I get them?

They are used to bias the fuel pressure signal, tricking the DME into thinking its injecting less fuel than it actually is. 20% mix is fine without the wires though

Just put 6.5 gallons mixed with 93 to make a full tank. How long before I should "feel the effects"
Yes I have FF wires

Pretty sure he's just talking about adapting map 5 to your car once the E85 is established

Yes, difference is as great as going from stock to stage 1. I just got some bad E85 though and it is pulling timing. Time to figure out how to burn up this tank of gas fast...

Damn that sucks. The E85 station near me is sketchy and I had a bad tank recently. There is a BP 15 min from my job, but it's completely out of my way logistically. I wish they would open more E85 stations in the south east.
