OEM Bluetooth how to connect it to phone

Hey Guys,

I just bought a 2006 325I Pre-LCI

On the steering wheel i have all the buttons for bluetooth, but have absolutely no idea how to connect.

I turn on the bluetooth on my iphone 5 but it can't seem to find my car to connect to.

Any ideas on what to do?

Much appreciated!

Jeff

Assuming you have iDrive, navigate to the telephone / bluetooth menu. Select pair new phone and you should then be able to detect it on the iPhone. You will then enter a unique address on the iPhone and enter the same on the car. Should be paired and ready to go!

yea.... i have no idea what I drive is?

I have a 6MT, and nothing on the center console.... but i do have menu's i can use in the dash but use the BC stick but no options for a cell.

It's got me baffled.. cause on the steering there's the answer phone button, and voice button.

I-drive: twiddle wheel by gear shifter and a colorful screen about 5" in size up on centre dash.

Non I-drive: no fancy color screen.

I can only advise on non i-drive set up.

Press Menu on your cd player
Select Tel
Select BT
Turn BT on or off
If no device is paired choose pair new and if there is an old phone from a previous owner then remove it.

Pairing: the 4 digit code is the last 4 numbers of your VIN. Your VIN can be found in your owners manual and sometimes on the bottom corner of your windscreen.

There are a bunch of Ytube videos on phone setup

There are a bunch of Ytube videos on phone setup
But when you press the menu button on the radio there
should be a phone icon showing up . If there isn't you don't
have bluetooth phone.

no phone icon after the menu button is pressed indicates no bluetooth phone ability
built in. The buttons on the wheel do not mean you have the bluetooth option they
all come with the button's

Thanks for you help guys,

I guess the buttons are just there for show. When i clicked on menu my only options are the cpu, the radio tuning, and phone numbers to contact BMW for assistance.

I did an aftermarket bluetooth setup that uses the steering wheel controls. It was very diy friendly, less expensive and less complicated than retrofitting oem. It's a decent option:

Awesome thanks, i'll take a look into that.

Since my radio currently has some dead pixels I might just get the new Dynavin once it's on the market.

That's a solution. You could also get a newer factory European head unit that has bluetooth and usb built in, if you wanted to keep the oem appearance. Good luck!
