Pop noise during WOT
Last night, I was doing a few WOT against this C32 AMG. During one of the WOTs, I heard this pop noise coming from the engine bay. I continued to do a few more WOTs after that and everything was fine, car pulled like normal, no check engine lights. My car is stock, operating temperature was about 210 degrees F. 2007 335i AT 83,000 miles. Also, I don't know if its me but I feel like I've heard this sound once before during a WOT, I just happened to notice it extra last night because I had my windows down.

That's a tell for a busted ChargePipe but that should give you a Reduced Engine Power warning. Have you double checked it?

is there an easy way to visually tell if it's busted without removing any parts? I don't have any time today to take anything apart and I do have to drive about 100 miles.

If its busted in the same fashion that 99% of them bust in then not really. The end by the throttle body usually is the suspect. Have a look at this one:
View post on imgur.com when mine went I ran my hand all the way up it towards that end and I could feel it. I couldn't really see I until I removed the airbox. I have cones now though. If you have cones you should be able to see it if you lift em IMO. |

Yep, probably the charge pipe.
I've had mine replaced under warranty twice. While stock. The CP on the N54 sucks, best to get an aftermarket one like BMS or something solid. Even the techs at the BMW dealer said the stock CP sucks and suggested I just get an aftermarket one. I'm surprised BMW doesn't make a performance one that's metal.
