Impressive MPG!

Took a trip early this morning to the beach, this thing does great on the highway! '11 E90 with two people and luggage. Only mods are JB4 (switched off for trip) and charge pipe. Pleasantly impressed, only had the car for a month.

I was impressed too with mine. I did have a bit of city driving though. (Los Angeles to West Monroe Louisiana)

I've found mine to be a little inflated. After a mostly-freeway trip, the trip meter will show me nice low 30mpg numbers, but after I actually calculate my own, it's off by 2-3 mpg.

My regular commute @ mostly city shows 22 mpg in the car, but my own calculations come to less than 18 mpg.

I regularly used to see 31.9 mpg on long highway trips. This car is a highway cruiser for sure.

Horrible MPG for 3.0L. There is a reason why BMW went with 2.0L with their F30

Maybe this can be attributed to the speedometer inaccuracy? I wonder if 50k miles is really 50k?
I may run some tests on this.

you mean the odometer? even if that's wrong, wouldn't it be the same value the computer calculates mpg from?

That's true. I was thinking it all may be a little off. I've been suspicious since I learned about the speedometer.

you can probably compensate with larger rolling diameter.

still, i think the odometer needs to be fairly accurate, although, you can say the same about the speedo, i suppose.

either way, my mpg reading was not off by 1-2%, so it's probably not that. it's off by waaaay more. like 22 vs 17.

Hate to burst your bubble but every e90 on board computer I have ever seen is very optimistic about fuel consumption. My 2011 N55 lies to the tune of 10% pretty consistently when checked against actually calculating the consumption myself. 10% is like 2mpg over a tank for me, so that's not even close. The N55 doesn't do too badly at efficiency but it might not be as good as you think.
