Outer rings not as bright as inner ones?
Hi all-done a search I had my drl's on while sat in traffic and noticed the reflection on the car in front that the outer rings are dimmer than the inner ones, but seeing other e92,e93's theirs look the same brightness?-thanks

With the stock housing, the inner ring will always be brighter than the outter ring because of the 1 bulb design... Ideally one bulb per ring is what BMW should have done. Only way to get them both to light up equally is to upgrade to a OSS housing.
I suggest upgrading to better/brighter/whiter bulbs (lux, mtec etc...) http://luxangeleyes.com/products |

Here is another link with different prices. http://www.burgertuning.com/exterior.html If money isn't an issue, go with the LUX, they're worth it. Otherwise the $119 LED angel eyes upgrade is way worth it for half the price. Don't go with the $29 ones, you won't notice a big difference. |

I want lux's too. the ECS option is like half the price though. Hmmm. Lux's look so nice though.

It's a problem the E92 will always have. It's the design and NOT the bulb. That's what happens when one bulb is designed to light up two rings.
The only way to have bright, evenly lit rings is to do an LED ring replacement. |

I wonder if bulbs could be designed to remedy this problem by having a brighter LED for the half of the light tube associated with the outer ring. I don't know much about optics, but I'd imagine this would be a possibility since it appears that there are separate light tubes/fibre optic paths (right next to each other) for each ring.

The inner ring will always get more light. It's not actually a ring but a reflector bowl that's reflecting all of the light from the H8 bulb. The outer ring is a true fiber optic ring so it inherently reflects less light. It will never be as bright as the inner ring unless a bulb is designed so there are dimmer LEDs to power the inner ring. The brightness and even-ness of the outer ring illumination also varies a lot depending on viewing angle and brightness of the environment, again due to the inherent optics of the fiber optic tube vs reflector.
