First day out on track
Afternoon all.
had my first ever track session today. Only a single 20minutes at Brands Hatch, but wanted to know how the BM felt and its only £25 for 20minutes rude not to really. So basics of the car ..E93 335i Standard engine, just Twin BMS Cone filters. Koni Yellow and H&R springs. 235/35/19 Front tyres, everything else standard. WHAT A FUN 20 MINUTES! Never had a buzz like that before, started off slow went one clio go past me .. then i thought no way am i letting that get away. ended up taking about 8 cars including a 450 Subaru (as the owner claimed) alot of people might be thinking only 20 minutes in a standard car, but first time out and i would say to anyone who hasnt tried it, get booking now! Did have a slight issue, think i boiled brake fluid, even though only replaced it last month! So a flush with some 5.1 will be done next week and to find out why i had a christmas tree effect of lights on the dash. got a few warnings about DSC faults etc will plug it in tomorrow and see. Oh yeah ... JB4 next ... Need more power! anyways ill let some photos do some talking. Joel |

it would be an idea to get some proper fluid in there if your planning more track days, as standard 5.1 will just boil instantly again.
Motul RBF600 would be my suggestion for the odd track day i would also advise getting some proper tuition, many track day orginisers will offer an experianced co-pilot to sit in and show you the ropes, well worth the beer tokens. and lastly, you shouldnt be getting baited by a clio passing you :P |

my buddy who was with me been round here alot but was just learning lines as i was going really, but i do want to do soemthing like that in the future. This was more to just see what i could do with the basic car build more confidence with it. has alot more grip then i originally thought it would. i think it was a bad driver! had terrible lines through the bends took hardly any speed into them. |

Brands Hatch is a great circuit to learn on, took my 172 Clio Turbo around there a couple of times with the guys from work.
Things i liked, pretty compromising on sound levels [ Clio had a straight through exhaust] Things i did not like Very busy and lots of people in exotics who could not drive for shit. Glad you had a good time though. Next time, try Bedford autodrome, much more fun.

Nice man glad you enjoyed it! Did you feel the need for an LSD?
I really want to go to Bedford this year but they don't do 20min sessions. Might have to just hit the full day session on the long ass GT circuit! |

Brands is certainly not an easy track! But i loved it there!
If you do JB4 next, def do intercooler at the same time for consistant performance on teh track. I was getting very hot very quickly, and my pads and discs were not up to the task so i was only doing 3 laps at a time. Consider new pads as the stock discs should be fine. Obviously fluid that has been mentioned, and maybe braided brake lines too. Were you using DSC on the day? I enjoyed the koni yellow and H&R combo on the track, but i would def consider some anti roll bars! These mods aren't huge expenses... and would make your time on the track a lot more fun! |

but this isnt a daily track going car, its just a little bit of fun to see what the car can do with me behind the wheel. i started with just DSC, but i had failure of ... something on about lap 4 or 5 brakes went dash lit up but i just pushed on had no aids left on as i found out couple corners later but wasnt to bad. i did stiffen up the Koni's a bit but needed a bit more on the front .. the back i didnt both change from when i picked them up from you to much hassle to change on the fly, will do it next time i have the boot apart. |
