MB Quart QM200.3 Review/Pics/Vid Coming Soon
So i'm sure a lot of you have seen my thread with the DIY and review of adding the XD600/6 to Hifi. I have been more than pleased with just the amp and it has been everything I hoped for and more. I have been considering upgrading the speakers and subs for a little while but never really wanted to commit. Anyways two days ago I threw in an offer for the MB Quart kit on Ebay and it got accepted. Should be here this Saturday but i'm leaving for vacation Sunday so hopefully within the next two weeks I can get it installed and have some pics and a sound video for you guys. Let me know if there is anything in particular you want me to photograph or anything like that.
I'm planning on going to the dealer to buy the OEM connectors and wiring so gonna wire them up. One quick question... Should I leave my XD600/6 Set up as it is now or change the settings a bit now that i'll have some real speakers to power. 7/6/14: Kit came in today. Initial impressions I am really impressed with the quality thus far. It comes with every single thing you need except the OEM connector harnesses. Other than that it has wires and everything is labeled and easy to follow Update 7/19: Everything is installed and done now. The only hiccup I ran into was with the subwoofer connector. I had no idea it was different than the one for the speakers so I wound up just stripping the wires and soldering in that connection. Other than that the install was pretty painless. I've taken the door panels off quite a few times so both front speakers and tweeters took me around an hour. The sub's were a bit harder and I probably spent 2-3 hours doing that. All in all I am extremely happy and think I found the best bang for your buck hifi upgrade. I was extremely pleased with the car before with just the amp, but this has taken it to a whole different level. Before with the amp I felt that the car sounded better than my friend's B8 S4 with Bang & Olfusen and now I don't think i've ever been in a car with a better sound system. At first I was a bit disappointed with the underseat subs. They sounded more precise, however, they didn't really thump like I was expecting. After breaking them in a bit and playing some more bass heavy songs they definitely will shake the car and are more than enough. Overall i'd highly recommend this upgrade. If anyone wants me to film a song playing on the speakers let me know below with a title and i'll get to it. The video would be similar to the one I did for my amp diy thread. Anyways onto the pics

Updated with some pics of the kit. I go away on vacation for a week tomorrow and my car is in the bodyshop so no updates for a little bit. I expect the install to take place around the 16th ish

I am interested in this as well. I have the "Base" System, so no amp and no tweeters and thinking of adding this speaker setup with a 4ch Amp. Looking forward to the review!

That has sold me, I think I'm going to get this kit.
Whereabouts did you buy them on ebay? I'm scared of ebay with counterfeit stuff going around from Asia. Also, what are your crossover settings to on the amp? Did you have to attenuate the tweeters at all? Edit: and if you can post the part numbers required for the connectors (as others have said) that would be ace! |

To the OP, thanks very much for the great review and all the pics. This is an extremely cost effective audio upgrade.

I love them. Honestly I am no audiophile but I do appreciate good quality audio (personal headphones are V-moda M100's) and these are outstanding.
