We used to use this in the shop when drain plugs were impossible to remove without damaging the pan. It was pretty cool. NOt a fan honestly bc if there is shavings at the bottom of the pan, it doesnt remove it as well as draining the oil from the pan. Gravity is your best friend in this case.

I used it once then took the plug off and flushed oil through. More dirt and gunk came through the pan than the vacuum.

The extractors are very nice, I own the MV7201. But on these BMW engines, there is no where to insert one. I use mine to suck the oil out of the filter housing, but it is literally super simple to pull the drain plug on our cars.

Where is the tube on your engine? Have you checked the oil level lately?

that makes sense, I think I'm gonna try doing it by draining it first and if its too cumbersome for me then I might just go ahead and buy this thing.

You still haven't gotten the joke (that a lot of people are posting tongue in check about). THERE IS NO DIPSTICK, AND NO TUBE TO INSERT THE EXTRACTOR INTO!

It works great on on my Honda for oil, or my grandparents Lincoln transmission fluid, but with there not being a dipstick on your BMW, it is impossible. Now if you had a Merc....

An oil extractor is a useful tool. You can use it to change the diff oil, pull brake fluid out of the reservoir, and pull the excess oil from the OFH. And it's great for lawn mowers too!
