IND | Exhaust Tip Removal & Installation
This is a temporary solution to the many fine exhaust systems that will be released into the market, but we have received many inquiries for a black tip to go with the rest of our cosmetic pieces.
Utilizing the factor BMW tip, all tips are powder coated in-house and available in either gloss black or matte black. The powder coated tips provide a nice factory plus look for the vehicle while providing a menacing appearance. For this DIY we usually have access to body shop specific tools, but figured using readily available tools would be in everyone's best interest. Tools required: Rubber mallet Framing hammer Good ol' fashion elbow grease Step 1: The exhaust tips on the F8X M3/M4 are held in place by multiple retaining springs. The first step is to take the straight-claw side of the hammer and position it between the inlet pipe and exhaust tip. Step 2: Using the mallet, carefully apply even taps to the framing hammer. The pressure from the hammer will force the tips off of the spring. Step 3: After the spring is position past the retaining clips you can remove them with your hands. Step 4: With the tips removed you will now see a perpendicular edge on the topside of the inlet pipe. Line the groove on the tip with this edge and simply push the new tip into position. Step 5: Now sit back and enjoy the aggressive look of a gloss black tip.

Take my money. Take it all! At this rate EAS will be installing IND painted front grills, painted front/rear reflectors, painted fender markers, new exhaust tips, a painted keyhole cover (..and I'll still have to install the tri-color shift boot and e-brake boot myself). Damn it, just P/M me a package deal @Ilia@IND or @Andrew@IND
Do the tips just slide on and clamp in place? |

A PM will be over shortly. As for the tips, they simply slide back on the retaining spring.

You should make some kind of adapter that connects to factory exhaust valve cable to enable flap to be open 100%.
I think that will be hot seller. |

Thanks for the DIY. On my e90 I custom made my own tips and just used the stock rivet holes to attach. This looks like it may be a little harder to do that with. Hmmmm
Im assuming you guys can do any color(for a price of course )? D |

Unfortunately there is no trick. Given our experience with these tips thus far, it does take quite a bit of force. Take a peak on the inside of the coated tip to get an idea of the retaining spring location. This will give you a better idea of where to apply pressure.

You have to hit it pretty hard. I thought my exhaust was going to fall out. It didn't, but I did get a relapse of my lateral epicondylitis. My elbow was aching for days...

Thanks for the packet boys, you made my day. As usual I have all the pro tools for this so tonight some well light parking lot will have a free cuss word and shouting lesson available to anyone who feels their skills in those are not perfect.
After fucking this up, I'll just take slow drive to your office again and beg Cat to help me out again. Cheers, Lups

I love living thousands of miles away from my tool boxes, these will apparently be installed using a piece of wood and a really sorry excuse for a hammer.
