Brake Dust on Wheels on the Cars with Blue Calipers?

Anyone finding much brake dust so far on the wheels on the cars with blue calipers? I'm coming from MB, where it was quite a problem, and many of us switched to Akebono with great results for performance and clean wheels. Wondering if that will be needed here?

I've got over three thousand miles on mine and haven't had a problem yet.

Lots of brake dust on my 228 MSport with standard brakes. 228 has silver wheels so it shows very obviously.

I find that hard to believe.. it's subjective but driving 100 miles puts quite a bit of dust on my msport brakes. And that seems to be consistent with what everyone says on this forum. But it really depends on how much you brake. Around town = lots of dust. Freeway/little to no braking = very little dust. If you've only driven bmws then this dust amount will be nothing new. But I came from akebono pads that had virtually no dust. Ever.

The wheels have had brake dust on them but the question was the blue calipers. They haven't had brake dust on them.

Sorry if my original post was poorly written. I was using blue calipers to describe both M235 and 228i so-equipped, but not the cars with grey calipers. I'm interested in the dust buildup on the wheels, but could have been clearer in my writing. Thanks for the answers. It sounds as if I need to keep my eyes on the Akebono site for availability.

The wheels do get break dust on them. Only takes a few days for it to show up.

Of course the calipers get dust on them, and also the wheels, but it's not hard to wash off

Not necessarily. Have you ever had Akebono EUR pads? I've been running them for a couple of years and have not needed wheel cleaner ever since...just gentle use of wheel brush gets them clean. Before that, even the first coating of just a few days of dust on my MB would stick and not come off without scrubbing. I was hoping BMW was different than MB, but it does seem Akebono may be wanted again. Thanks!

I'm getting a lot of brake dust. Will be looking for alternative brake pads when it's time to replace.

I have a 2011 e90 and it seems that BMW had possibly run something similar to the Akebono pads that you mentioned because I virtually have no brake dust ever. I know that my 2008 M3 had a lot of brake dust. How much are those pads that you're using? I may have to pick up a set. I wonder why BMW changed from the clean type of pads, back to the dirt type? I think they worked great I had no issue couldn't tell the difference from the dirty ones.

They were about $65 rear/$75 front from Amazon. Just get the right part number from Akebono site and go shopping! Nothing listed for any 2 series yet, but just a matter of time. Meanwhile, a coat of wheel wax on the new wheels will help keep the dust from adhering to the surfaces.

In USA BMW is known for having lots of brake dust on cars. Axxis brake pads are really good and cost effective.

I either don't get them, or I wash my car too often (every other week). I haven't noticed them and I drive 85 miles a day for work. But then again I have powder-coated black rims.

Hi; I am new to the forum. I just purchased a black M235i and want to put Akebono pads on to reduce the dust. I also understood that M sport brakes are the same for 2,3,4 series. Anyway, has anyone installed Akebono pads on their M235i? If so, please share the part numbers. Thanks!

Worst brake dust I've experienced since my '80 Saab 900 Turbo. Can't believe there isn't a better solution after all these years...

I had awful brake dust issues with my 1 series...and the wheels wee silver. These are darker so don't look as bad as quickly....... I can't wait till someone makes a ceramic pad for our cars....
