Pros and cons of both cars?
I know the bmw is the sportier one but i really love the benz interior a lot more, so what are the pros/cons of each?

it's like comparing a 3 to a 5
the benz has bigger engines, the 350 is a non turbo v6 the benz is also probably slower in v6 guise than a 335, but there's that v8 option i'm not sure what else to say. they're pretty different

E93
-better handling.. not by a whole lot since the verts are pretty porky. Better steering and brakes by a long shot -better transmissions, 335 is quicker than the E350 -much larger aftermarket support E350/550 -more luxurious, feature laden -larger, more practical -better ride, quieter -5.5L V8 is a bit quicker than 335i, but the 4.6L V8TT is as quick as the V8 M3. Big difference like said before.. personally if its an option, I'd get a 2012+ E550 with the twin turbo V8, tune it and have something FBO 335i's have trouble with |

I love the low end torque from the twin turbo V8 in the E550 but it drinks gas quite a lot even with its annoying start stop mechanism.
In the E class you'll feel the steering to be much lighter compared to the 3 series but it still handles well for a big luxury car especially in Sports suspension mode. In regards to handling in comfort mode I noticed the E class to be a little unstable in highway speeds and turns but once you pop it into sports susp the difference is significantly better. I haven't driven the 350 before but from what my uncle said when he had one as a loaner he said its really slow compared to the 550. Also I would suggest getting the Harmon Kardon stereo, the quality is amazing as well as connecting the bluetooth through your phone/mp4 player, the quality from the bluetooth sounds the same as inserting a CD. That being said I recently noticed in a SLK that the music quality through bluetooth is rubbish sounds really distorted and flat, probably since it doesn't have the HK stereo. Are you looking for a Coupe, Cabrio or Sedan for the E class? The Coupe has the panoramic sunroof like the Porsche Targa so its like a Semi cabrio. Since I drive a E90 328xi I can't really go in depth on the power as well as handling from the E92/93s but the N54 is a powerful engine and was impressed when I drove my friends 335. It felt more like a small V8 and was surprised how much power and torque a 3 liter stock engine put out. |

Thanks for all the replies everyone!!
It is a bit of an odd comparison but basically im looking for a 4seater luxury convertible thats also a bit sporty. The a5 is too slow and the s5 conv is out of my budget. So thats why it came down to 335i/335is vs e350/e550 Also the 550 would just be the v8 without turbos from 2011, cant afford the 12+ twin turbo I guess ill test drive the benz to see how they feel, test drove the 335i converible it felt heavy because of that hard top and def slower than my 370z roadster

It's strange you're looking at a 3 series and a E350/550. It depends on your use. The E350 is a bigger, more family oriented luxury car with good performance. I test drove the E350 and it's a great car. The E350 looks and feels newer, more luxurious, good performance, and handling as well. E93 is a nice option as well but it's a smaller car. Add downpipes and a tune, and it really gets fun though. But if you end up deciding on a larger car like a E350 then I would look at the Hyundai Genesis V6. The car fully loaded is probably under $50K. That's a lower starting price than the E350 base brand new. Plus the Genesis has Lotus tuned suspension, equal or better performance of the E350, amazing seats in a $50K car (might be the best to me in that range), whisper quiet on start up (engine noise inside the cabin is pretty much non-existent), and the luxury touches throughout the car are impressive.

If I were in the market for a luxurious sedan with good interior space, the E350 would be the perfect car. I think it's even better than the 5 series when you take into account what that type of car is intended for. The 3 series is a sporty, fast, great handling small sedan/coupe. It's a more of a sprinter type of car. The E350 is a comfortable cruiser.
