How many times has your E9x been in the shop
With all this talk about 335i break down issues I was wondering how many times YOUR E9x has been in the shop for repairs to a failing item.
My car has been in only one time for the vanos recall. I only have 40k on it.

About 5 times in the last 5 months, going in again next week for continued limp mode, think it is a vanos issue also, was able to read codes.

I'm on month 2, and any issues I was able to tackle myself so far, nothing serious. I hope to get 2 years of minimal problems from this car as I buy a secondary that will be my daily driver, thinking x3.

zero for both. Over a year with one and 3/4 with the other. All pro tuned FBO. Just keep up with normal maintenance.
I turn my own wrenches, I don't believe in paying someone to do simple work.

1) Transmission mechatronics seal leaking 2) Power steering pulley contacted sub frame and exploded. I've had the car for over four years, tuned the whole time, and it has almost 120k miles.

I expect the e90 to need a waterpump someday but 1 waterpump every 80k or so is perfectly acceptable to me.

I've had my 07 335i for 4 years now, CPO ended about a year ago. Other than for maintenance and a recall, it's only been in the shop for minor things (peeling interior trim, sunroof rattle, etc.) that I wanted fixed under warranty. I had a misfire issue a while back, but a new set of plugs (they were overdue) took care of it. Other than that and a VANOS solenoid cleaning, I haven't had any problems with the car.

First off, thank you BMW for all of these recalls!
535i: 1) Water Pump (51k miles - right outside of warranty) 2) HPFP Recall 3) Battery Recall 4) Tail-light Recall Owned since 30k miles - now at 60k. So, 30k miles driven and the water pump is the only thing I had to pay for. 335i: 1) Battery Recall The only thing I had to pay for was the water pump. Also, my Xenon bulb went out on my 335i last week-end but that's a cheap and easy DIY. I love my n54's!

Two 335i's, both FBO and never broke down. Only time it has been to the dealer is for an oil change (it costs the same for them to do it as it would for me to do it myself) and for recall stuff just because it was recalled.

Only once, and that was the windshield washer pump, aux jack and new AE bulb (burnt out the next morning after purchase) under 30-day warranty.
*EDIT* This morning was starting off great... Until I pulled onto a major street earlier today and heard "blonnnnnng!" So now add one more trip... Got a tire patched.

Well the first visit was more like a round of repairs: new turbos because of rattle, oil filter housing gasket/leak, coolant expansion tank, transmission mechatronic sleeve/leak, broken fuel door lock, I think that was it... All under warranty, thank god.
Second time around I got my tension arms swapped for bad bushings And I just got back from getting my car coded to allow comfort access to work on my key.. The good thing about all that downtime and ~$500 is that I don't have to worry about most of the 335i's problems again, or at least for a long, long time.. last owner took care of water pump/t stat |

I've had mine in several times for a blown speaker (same one blows) AC evaporator went out, catalytic converter and resonators were replaced. Glad I bought the extended warranty!
