What do e9x owners do for a living / education?

I'm pretty sure this topic has been brought up before, but a quick search and I didn't find it.

I'll start:
I'm a Chemical Engineer by degree (UW Madison), but working for the last 13 years in Green Bay as a computer consultant for a small company called FedEx. I couldn't be happier to have this job - an office with two doors, 6 windows, 4 wheels, and 320+ hp. One drawback is, I put a LOT of miles on my car. The biggest positive is, I put a LOT of miles on my car.

I see a lot of BMWs on a daily basis, since about 33% of my day is spent OTR freeway mostly.

I always wonder what those other drivers do for work. But then I realize how reasonably priced a couple-year old 3-series can be. I'm not rich by any means, but when I first bought my car, my friends were like "Wow, FedEx must pay you well!"
"I got the car for a steal!" I tell 'em.

I've fully debadged it. No outside logos visible, the trunk model badge is blacked. I don't want to advertise. My neighbor's wife (Audi fan) asked me why I blacked it out. "Don't you want everyone to know you drive a hot little Bimmer?" She asked. I said "Nope, I don't like to flaunt it"

If this thread has been "done before", my apologies. But what's wrong with starting a new one?

I own a car detailing company, been in business since 2009 and love it. I do mainly dealership accounts (guaranteed checks each month and work year round at there dealerships) with some mobile detail work on the side when we have time.

I had a High School diploma and a business mind! Luckily i drive my company van around at .50/cents a mile tax break, and leave the 335i in the garage lol!

I lived in Madison for 2.5 years (middle/high school). I loved it there - everyone was very nice. I moved to Madison from Florida though, so in retrospect - the people in almost any other place may have seemed nicer (srry FL posters).

I went to Virginia Tech for a Biology degree with a Chem minor. Worked for a a couple years for the DOD doing viral oncogenesis research. I was always a pre-med student, but working at that place was when I realized I wanted to be a physician. I just finished my Masters in Biomedical Sciences at The Commonwealth Medical College, and am currently applying to medical schools. Getting in now is brutal...can't imagine how it'll be 5-10 years from now.

I pretty much spent most of my savings on my bimmer...just because I needed a car, found a great deal, and knew whatever I bought would be what I would be driving for a long time. I also do get attitude changes when people see my car (which sucks - esp. because I'm on student loans). Cheers to parking in the back.

I'm a 19 year old college student in Hollidaysburg Pa (central pa) lived here all my life so far. Beautiful little town, reminds me of a downtown Boston.

Entering my sophomore year of college Penn State Altoona. Staying home to work and focus on my financing degree. Work 40+ hours a week detailing cars through classes. I pay for my own car and credit card bills and all my books and some of my schooling. My mom works her butt off to put me through the rest of college. Thanks mom!

Just bought this 135 couple weeks ago and the mod bug is hitting hard. All I can say is, I love this car. It's my child. So much more fun than the old 330xi I had. Everyone asks me if "mommy and daddy bought me my car" I just laugh and say I work 40+ a week through school. I don't like coming off as a spoiled brat cause i'm far from it, I just like working hard

Good to hear, Scotty_Miller... so many kids these days are spoiled. It's encouraging to hear you have values and respect the hard-earned dollar, not to mention truly appreciating what your mom is doing for you.

No, sir. We haven't been w/o issues but that was years ago when e-commerce was still in infancy.

Right now I am an auditor with an insurance company. It blows.

Looking to get into a financial/investment analyst position, as I studied Finance in school.

And to the guys working through school, I feel your pain. I have always worked 2-3 jobs (70+ hours during school) and always had nice cars, so I got crap from a lot of people!

Craziness how small madison is but you never see anyone including the fact that I run a FedEx route(home delivery out of hanson road location) the only bmw in the parking lot everyday I fear the door dings everyday. Are you ever there?

Unless I'm confused and there is a different FedEx then ignore my rant.

I have a territory in Northeast WI (from Green Bay, I cover the U.P. and South to Milwaukee, West to Edgar). I'm only in Madison once or twice a year. I work for FedEx Services (Corporate).

I am currently in the last year of my Doctor of Pharmacy program. My didactic work is over, this last year is nine blocks, five weeks each, at different pharmacy practice settings. The reason I switched from the E39 to the E93 is I wanted something with less miles that wouldn't be as likely to strand me while driving to some of the more distant sites this year. I got it a few weeks before our final year ended (we only had a 1 week summer) and most were happy for me, but one girl freaked out and asked how I could afford something like this. My thoughts were 1. That's none of your business and 2. Have you never heard of financing? I am looking forward to getting this year out of the way, my plan was to only get vehicles that I could pay for outright, so it will be nice to pay this off and keep it around for a few more years before getting another to add to the stable.

Any time you have a medication related question, feel free to PM me for some advice (for entertainment purposes only, contact your doctor or pharmacist for medical concerns, blah, blah, blah other butt covering statements, etc).

Yeah, I could probably make more $ in Chemical Engineering, but I'm very comfortable here, and more importantly, I really love my job. In ChE, I only have 5 years experience. IT, I have 30+
