Jack Pads

Not trying to sound cheap, but for the occasional diy work, like brakes and oil, will i notice enough of a difference between the name brand 20+ per pad like burger motorsports or ecs branded jack pads, vs the cheaper no names from ebay that cost 32-50 bucks for a set of 4?

I was thinking about getting either
http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-JACK-PAD...3D200933359265
or
http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-Jack-Pad...db171d&vxp=mtr

Thanks in advance,

Jeremy

One thing that i wish the jack pad could do it swivel somehow.

If you don't understand... Lets see how I can explain this. Unless you are jacking the car from all four corners at once -- the BurgerTuning jack pad (which I have) is great, but when you just jack up the front or rear or side by itself -- the jack pad tilts on the jack and could slip. It hasn't happened to me yet -- but it is precarious.

I like my burger jack pads because they fit perfectly into the "dish" on my jacks.

I've got one of these. I liked the rubber bumpers on the ends that hold the adapter in the jack pad so you can just raise the saddle of the jack up to meet it. It's nice, but in reality though I haven't used it. The car sits low enough that my jack won't clear for the front lift points. More recently I had a few pieces of hard wood cut down to fit instead. They're dirt cheap, work with jack stands as well, and extend only barely below the bottom of the jack pad.

Just jack the car up using the center jack points and set it down on the side lifting points (what you call the jack pad). This is the correct way to lift the E90 chassis.

+1.

This is the proper way to lift your e90. Center jack points then slide jack stands under your side jack points.

I use a hockey puck with my jack to lift at the center jack points for a little extra height.

After jacking it up, does anyone use anything on their horses? The horses can damage the jack pads too.

Also, for most BMW problems start off by scanning your car with the Peake Research Tool. It contains the actual BMW codes. What does it look like? I have been under the car a few times but have not noticed a center jack point. Maybe since I wasn't looking...

Open the attachment from the OP. There is a jack point in the front and you can jack it in the rear using the rear differential.
However, DO NOT jack it up using the differential cover!

You don't want to use the diff. Use the black metal brace that comes across the car that sits in front (if you're looking at the car from the back) and above the diff.

You can use the cast iron differential housing, just not the aluminum diff cover. This per BMW's recommendation.

The rear is the diff housing. The front is the approx. 5" round indentation in the belly pan with the rectangular metal piece in the center of the indentation that has a bolt hole in it.

Feel free to shoot me a PM if you have any questions!

Cheers,

Boy do I need these. I just got a bolt in my front tire and I had to jack up the passenger side and the jack pads are torn up and brittle.

Where else can I get something like this?

Edit: Plastic Jack pads not the aluminium. I already have the aluminium one from Burger Tuning.
