looking to buy a 335
hey guys, i currently have a 2006 325i. I'm now selling it because i test drove a 335i today and couldn't resist..im looking to spend 22k. i can see 2007-2008's going for that with about 60k miles on them..what is there to look for? want to make sure i end up getting the right car. also I'm 19 and really want a fun car to drive so I'm looking for a manual transmission, but I've never driven manual, how hards the bmw to get used too? thanks!

BMW manuals are pretty easy to drive. You have hill assist in the e90, which is a huge help when learning how to drive a manual. The 335i manual with sport package is what you are looking for. Make sure it has a sport package.

Only way to find stuff is input the address and if that does not work you are just out of luck. |

Yeah Idk if its all car Navi's but you really can't beat Google. I do like the iDrive but basically for aesthetics

Definitely at least get the Sports and Premium package. Skip the 2007-2008 MY and go for a 2009 or 2010. |

Get a Garmin to keep in your vehicle. Built-in GPS units suck in general.
Google maps is great, but detracts from using your phone as a phone imo. Averti, FWIW, I bought my 2011 335xi for $26k with 53,000 miles on it. Have had zero problems. I do take very good care of it, and it is driven daily for long time periods.

The people that have 335i's don't go home and cry when they get hit with 1000's of dollars of repair because bmw designed something shitty. They just bust open the wallet, hand them the money and thank them for a fast fun car. I on the other hand would roll up in the fetal position and cry all night if someone told me I needed to have 1000's in repairs on a car under 100k for turbo problems. |

Look for a 2008 or 2009 build. I believe the 2007s have issues with engine mounts and serpentine belt. iDrive is a waste (Nav/GPS is horrendous) and you can save some money by using Google maps and bluetooth.
Yep, turbo wastgates are covered under warranty as mentioned but some dealers will do their best not to cover the replacement. BTW...I highly recommend a PPI by a local indy or dealer you trust. You can also try Carchex as they have a 3rd party PPI service.

https://www.carchex.com/car-inspections You can also get a quote on a 3rd party warranty. I have one through Carchex 6yrs/100K miles for my '09. The approval for work is fast and they prefer you go to your dealer. I paid around $2200, and all the warranty work I have had done at this point is a bit under the total I paid and I am only at 58K miles

09s came with the newer version of iDrive. They also refreshed the sedan (LCI) in 2009. BTW I have iDrive and absolutely would not have bought a BMW without it. I moved to a new city and found myself using it every day. It's very helpful if you know how to use it
