Adding spacers

Just curious but it seems popular for those who do not want to buy new or different wheels to add spacers to push the wheels out a bit and add a slightly meatier or wider stance.
Looks like 15mm rear and 10mm-12mm front is the current ticket.

My question is.....do you have to get longer wheel bolts or install wheel studs? What is the correct ticket

BMW doesn't need wheel studs... you need extended bolts
